Porto to Vila do Conde
Start your Portuguese coastal cycling adventure from Porto heading north along the Atlantic coast. You'll ride along wooden boardwalks and quiet back roads past beautiful beaches, nature reserves and fishing villages to reach Vila do Conde, known for its shipbuilding history and lace-making.

Vila do Conde to Esposende
Cycle through residential areas to the extensive beach in Póvoa de Varzim, then continue along the sea before heading inland through cultivated fields, woodlands and typical villages to Fão. Cross the wetlands of the Cávado estuary to reach the pleasant coastal town of Esposende and its beaches.

Esposende to Viana do Castelo
Head inland today to cycle through villages, rural areas and woodlands with rivers and mountain views. Access Viana do Castelo via an iron bridge over the Lima River, which offers nice views along the Lima Valley and over the Arga Mountains.

Viana do Castelo to A Guarda
After crossing the city, follow the ocean northward passing coastal mills and small fortresses including those in Vila Praia de Âncora. At the beach of Moledo head inland through an ancient pine forest to the medieval center of Caminha. Cross the River Minho into Spain by ferry or boat and continue to the fishing village of A Guarda.

A Guarda to Baiona
Begin with a great stretch of rugged Spanish coastline that takes you to the charming village of Oia, dominated by a 12th century monastery. Continue along the coast past small fields, houses and villages to reach the nice spa town of Baiona, full of characterful buildings and various tapas bars.

Baiona to Vigo
After the bustling town of Baiona, stay close to the coast until you reach Patos. After a few kilometers inland, return to the ocean at the mouth of the Ria de Vigo. Continue along the coast until reaching the suburbs of the lively city of Vigo.

Vigo to Pontevedra
Pedal through the lively streets of Vigo then quickly leave the urban landscape behind to ride through charming villages and tranquil forests offering a blend of natural beauty and local culture. You'll see nice views of floating mussel farms, the Cíes Islands and Vigo's port. A steep descent to Redondela with its distinctive viaducts comes next, then enjoy fresh oysters in the riverside town of Arcade before heading into forests and rural roads leading to Pontevedra.

Padrón to Santiago de Compostela
The final stage of your coastal Camino takes you through typical Galician villages with traditional houses and rustic barns. The impressive shrine of Nossa Senhora da Escravitude contrasts with these simple structures. A peaceful forest path comes before Milladoiro where you catch your first glimpse of Santiago and its towering cathedral spires. Descend into the valley to cross the River Sar before a final climb into Santiago's city center. Navigate the winding medieval streets to reach the impressive cathedral square and mark the end of your journey.
