Itinerary
- Day 1
Bangkok
Land in Bangkok and check into your hotel. If your flight arrives early, you'll have time to wander through local markets and temples on your own schedule. At 6pm, meet your tour leader and the rest of the group at the hotel for a welcome meeting that covers how everything works, then join everyone for dinner together.

- Day 2
Bangkok to Chiang Mai
Take a guided tour of Bangkok's klongs, the canal system where you'll see wooden stilt houses, colorful temples, and get to know some local residents in the quieter parts of the city. There's a peaceful green space tucked away from the main chaos. Later in the evening, head to the train station and board an overnight sleeper train headed to Chiang Mai.

- Day 3
Chiang Mai
Pull into Chiang Mai train station in the morning and have breakfast. In the afternoon, make your way up to Doi Suthep mountain and its temple. You can either walk up 300 steps or take a cable car if you prefer the easier route, either way you get great views looking out over Chiang Mai. By 6pm, listen to the monks chanting as their voices carry across the valley.

Chiang Mai
Spend the day at Elephant Nature Park where you'll see and spend time with rescued elephants. Watch them go about their day, roaming around, heading down to the river, and splashing around in the water.

Chiang Mai to Houay Xai
Leave Chiang Mai heading toward the border with Laos. Stop near Chiang Rai to visit Wat Rong Khun, the famous white temple. Then cross into Laos and take a tuk-tuk to Houay Xai, a small town where you'll spend the night.

Houay Xai to Pakbeng
Board a private slow boat and travel down the Mekong River through remote villages. You'll get a real sense of how people live along the river in Laos. Arrive in Pakbeng in the evening.

Pakbeng to Luang Prabang
Leave Pakbeng and continue down the river on your boat. Stop at Pak Ou Caves where you can see limestone formations and old Buddha statues inside. Get to Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage town, by the end of the day.

- Day 8
Luang Prabang
Visit Living Land Farm, an organic operation run by local farmers where you'll learn about traditional farming methods. In the afternoon, head to Kuang Si Waterfalls and swim in the turquoise pools to cool off from the heat.

Luang Prabang
This is your free day in Luang Prabang. Walk around and check out the many Buddhist temples scattered throughout town, or spend time browsing the food markets at your own pace.

- Day 10
Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng
Get to the train station and board a fast train for a two-hour ride to Vang Vieng, a small town on the river. Your tour leader will give you a quick walk around town when you arrive, after which you're free to explore on your own.

- Day 11
Vang Vieng
Rent a bike and explore Vang Vieng and the landscape around it. Head to the Blue Lagoon, one of the better natural swimming spots in Laos, and take a dip in the water.

Vang Vieng to Vientiane
Take a bus to Vientiane, the capital city. Your tour leader will guide you through the main sights, including Putaxai and Pha That Luang.

Vientiane
You have the full day free in Vientiane. Look around at the French colonial buildings, check out the Buddhist temples, and try some of the local food at restaurants around the city.

Vientiane
Your 14-day trip through Thailand and Laos ends today. You can either stick around Laos for more time or move on to wherever you're headed next.
