- Day 1
Lago Agrio to Amazon Lodge
Private transport takes you from Lago Agrio to Tierras Orientales on the Aguarico River, where you'll grab a box lunch before boarding a motor canoe. The three-hour journey through the rainforest lets you spot pink river dolphins, monkeys, and various birds as you head toward Amazon Lodge. After settling in and having dinner, your guide takes you on a night walk to search for nocturnal creatures like frogs, spiders, and snakes.

Amazon Lodge
Early morning starts with a paddle canoe excursion at sunrise while birds are most active around you. You'll have breakfast back at the lodge, then walk through pristine forest with your guide learning about ancestral medicinal plants used by local communities. After lunch and a rest period, you'll explore Ceibo Lagoon and the flooded Igapó forest by canoe. Later in the evening, a night excursion has you searching for caimans, bats, and boas under the jungle stars.

Amazon Lodge
Before dawn, you travel by canoe to a nutrient-rich clay lick where colorful parrots and parakeets gather in large numbers. From there you head to La Bocana, where the black Cuyabeno River meets the white Aguarico, a prime location for spotting dolphins. In the afternoon, climbing the 28-meter-high Ceibo Tree Observation Tower gives you panoramic views across the rainforest canopy. A short night walk happens near the tower after dinner.

Amazon Lodge
After breakfast, you navigate upstream to the San Francisco River, a whitewater tributary that's full of wildlife. A box lunch comes during the day before you hike along a Terra Firme trail where your guide explains how the ecosystem works and helps identify unique species. Back at the lodge you rest, then spend time reviewing your wildlife checklist with your naturalist guide, talking through the highlights of your trip so far.

Amazon Lodge to Lago Agrio
A final short forest or canoe excursion early on lets you take in the sounds of the awakening Amazon before an early breakfast. Then you prepare for your return journey, traveling downstream on the Cuyabeno River and upstream on the Aguarico River. Land transport brings you back to Lago Agrio, where your Amazon adventure wraps up around midday.
