Itinerary
- Day 1
Lago Agrio to Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve
Your trip begins in Lago Agrio where you'll board a motorized canoe and head into Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. The journey takes you down the Aguarico River, and you'll likely spot pink river dolphins along the way. Once you reach the eco-lodge deep in the jungle, you can settle in and get oriented. If you're up for it, there's an optional night walk available where indigenous guides take you out to look for tarantulas, tree frogs, and other nocturnal creatures.

- Day 2
Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve
Early morning means getting up well before sunrise to catch hundreds of colorful parrots at the mineral-rich clay licks, then grabbing breakfast out there. From there, you switch to traditional killa de remo canoes for quiet paddling through blackwater channels where you can watch for monkeys and toucans. Later in the afternoon, you'll head out on a rainforest hike where your guide explains how locals use various plants for medicine and other purposes.

- Day 3
Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve
Start the morning by paddling your canoe through misty dawn waters before heading up the San Francisco River, which has whitewater sections and tends to be rich with wildlife. After lunch, you'll navigate the Ceibo Lagoon in a killa de remo canoe, moving slowly through flooded forests and flooded trees. The night here brings incredible stargazing as darkness falls over the water.

- Day 4
Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve
Paddle downstream at sunrise toward a Kichwa family farm where you'll pitch in harvesting yuca and learning how to prepare traditional casabe bread. Then you'll climb a 30-meter observation tower that wraps around a massive ceibo tree, giving you views up into the canopy. That evening brings a night canoe ride where guides use flashlights to search for caimans in the water.

On your final morning, you can pick either a canoe ride or a forest walk to catch the Amazon's dawn sounds and activity. After breakfast, you'll start heading back to Lago Agrio, arriving by early afternoon with memories of pink dolphins, massive trees, and time spent with local families and cultures.
