Itinerary
- Day 1
Manchester to Lake District
You're heading north from Manchester into the Lake District, with Ambleside as your first stop where you'll have time to walk around and grab lunch. After that, you'll drive up to Kirkstone Pass to get some good photo opportunities and take in the views. From there, the route follows along Ullswater's edge, and you'll do a forest walk to reach Aira Force waterfall. Before settling in for the evening, you'll stop at Friar's Crag viewpoint overlooking Derwentwater. By evening you arrive in Keswick where you'll stay the night.

Lake District Exploration
This morning starts at Castlerigg standing stones, an ancient site that's been around for thousands of years. You'll then wind through country lanes to reach Grasmere, where you have free time to check out Wordsworth's Dove Cottage, try the local gingerbread, or just relax in the Daffodil Garden. Later you get to Bowness-on-Windermere, a lakeside town where you can wander around, and there's an optional boat cruise on Lake Windermere if you're interested. In the afternoon, you'll stop at Langdale Boulders and pass through Hawkshead village before heading back to Keswick.

Lake District to Manchester
You're driving through winding country lanes today, passing Crummock Water and Buttermere on the way to Honister Mountain Pass. There's a stop to see the old slate workings, and then you'll check out the Bowder Stone, a massive rock formation that's worth seeing. After that, you head back toward Keswick for a lunch break and some free time to rest. Later in the afternoon, you walk along the quiet shores of Ullswater. Before returning to Manchester, there's time to explore Kendal, a market town with cobbled streets where you can wander and pick up something to take with you.
