Saranda to Gjirokaster to Tirana
You'll start with a scenic drive from Saranda to Gjirokaster, a UNESCO-listed 'City of Stone' perched in the mountains. Once there, head up to Gjirokaster Castle where you can walk through the military museum and take in the sweeping valley views from the ramparts. After that, spend some time wandering the cobbled streets of the Old Town, where traditional stone houses line the narrow pathways and give the place its distinctive character. The Ethnographic Museum, located in Enver Hoxha's former birthplace, offers insight into local history and culture. Later in the day, continue north to Tirana, Albania's vibrant capital. Stroll through Skanderbeg Square to see the National History Museum and the Et'hem Bey Mosque, which sits at the heart of the city's main gathering spot.

Tirana to Albanian Riviera to Saranda
Leave Tirana early and head south along the Albanian Riviera, taking winding coastal roads that pass beautiful beaches and dramatic cliffs overlooking the Ionian Sea. You'll stop at hidden spots like Dhrmi and Jale Beach, where the water stays crystal-clear and the atmosphere feels peaceful away from crowds. Spend time exploring the local character of these coastal areas and soaking in the Mediterranean feel of Albania's shoreline. By evening, you'll head back toward Saranda, making this a full day of coastal driving and beach stops.
