Migration Venture Africa welcomed us in Morogoro with smiles and a guide who treated us like family. By midmorning, we were deep in Mikumi National Park, elephants crossing the road, giraffes grazing, and lions resting near the floodplain. It was magical. Lunch was fresh and local, served in a peaceful picnic spot. Our guide shared stories that made the whole experience feel personal and unforgettable. Trip date: February 2025 - IAIsabella· July 17th, 2025I recently went on a 1 day SGR safari to Mikumi National Park with Migration Venture Africa, and honestly, it was one of those rare days that feels like a mini adventure and a full vacation rolled into one. The day kicked off early, but in the best way possible boarding the SGR train from Dar es Salaam just as the sun started to rise. There’s something magical about sipping a cup of hot chai while the soft morning light sweeps across the countryside. The train itself was modern, smooth, and surprisingly relaxing. It felt like the journey was part of the safari, with glimpses of local villages and lush landscapes setting the scene. As soon as we arrived near mikumi, our guide was already waiting with a smile and a sturdy safari vehicle ready to go. He made us feel welcome immediately not just a driver, but a storyteller and wildlife enthusiast who genuinely loved sharing the magic of the bush. He had eagle eyes, too! Every few minutes, he was spotting animals I wouldn’t have noticed on my own. The Park was stunning vast, golden savannahs framed by the distant Uluguru Mountains. It was almost surreal how quickly we began spotting animals, elephants ambling across the road, giraffes gracefully munching on treetops, zebras blending into the horizon, and even a pair of lions dozing under the shade, completely unbothered by our presence. We also saw wildebeest, impalas, buffalo, and a family of warthogs trotting along with serious purpose. Lunchtime was a surprise highlight, we stopped at a quiet picnic spot with sweeping views and tucked into a simple, tasty meal nothing fancy, but exactly what you want in the middle of the wild. There’s something about eating in nature that just makes everything taste better. The afternoon drive gave us one last chance to soak it all in the silence of the park, broken only by birdsong and the occasional rumble of distant hooves. Then it was time to head back to the station for the return train. We were dusty, a little sun kissed, and satisfied. What Migration Venture Africa does so well is take the stress out of the logistics, from train tickets to timing to transport, everything runs like clockwork, so all you have to do is show up and enjoy the ride. And wow, what a ride it was. If you’re just for a short time, this day trip is a must. The migration venture took care of everything, so I didn’t have to stress about tickets or logistics. The park was amazing! We saw lions, giraffes, elephants… it felt like stepping into a nature documentary. Our guide was extremely friendly and had a great deal of knowledge about the animals and the park.
