Itinerary
- Day 1
Port Moresby
You'll land at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby and meet your guide for the transfer to your hotel. What you do from there depends on when you arrive, but you might have time for a quick city orientation or head straight to the National Museum and Art Gallery to get a sense of PNG's tribal heritage and different cultural groups.

Port Moresby to Mount Hagen
Take a domestic flight to Mount Hagen in the Western Highlands. Once you land, you'll drive through coffee plantations and highland villages with great views. After settling in, spend the afternoon walking around local markets and checking out traditional gardens to see what people grow.

- Day 3
Mount Hagen
This day focuses on Melpa culture. You'll see traditional sing-sing dances and learn about tribal customs from locals. There's a visit to a spirit house (haus tambaran) where you'll see the elaborate highland dress up close, feathered headdresses and all the body paint that goes into these ceremonies.

Mount Hagen to Goroka
Head overland to Goroka, where the famous Goroka Show takes place. Along the drive through the central highlands, you'll stop at coffee plantations and small villages, so you get a real sense of how people live and work in these mountain communities.

Goroka
Meet the Asaro Mudmen, known for their distinctive clay masks and ghost-like performances. You'll visit local villages, watch people make bilum woven bags by hand, and learn about how highland communities have survived here for generations with traditional knowledge and techniques.

- Day 6
Goroka to Madang
Fly to Madang, a coastal town on the north coast of PNG. After you check into your accommodation, there's time to explore WWII relics like sunken ships and old bunkers. Later, take a walk along the waterfront where palm trees line the shore and you can get a feel for the town.

- Day 7
Madang
Spend the full day on the water with a boat tour out to nearby islands in the Bismarck Sea. You'll snorkel over coral reefs with lots of fish and sea life, visit fishing villages where people still use traditional methods, and relax on quiet beaches without crowds.

Landmarks/POIs Bismarck Sea - Day 8
Madang to Tari
Fly to Tari in the Southern Highlands, then transfer to a rainforest lodge. During the evening and morning, you'll get an introduction to Huli culture and learn about their famous ceremonial wigs, the different ways they decorate their bodies, and how these practices fit into their spiritual beliefs.

Landmarks/POIs Tari - Day 9
Tari
Dedicate the entire day to exploring Huli culture more deeply. Visit traditional homesteads, walk to sacred sites, and see a performance by Huli Wigmen showing off their elaborate costumes. You'll also hike through rainforest looking for Birds of Paradise and checking out waterfalls along the way.

Tari to Port Moresby
Fly back to Port Moresby for your departure. Depending on when your international flight leaves, you might have a couple hours to visit the Port Moresby Nature Park or browse a local craft market. Then it's time to head to the airport for your flight home.
