Itinerary
- Day 1
Nara
Start your morning at Hōryū-ji, one of the world's oldest wooden structures and a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll have time to walk around and take in the architecture before heading to Nara Station for lunch. This afternoon, make your way to Yakushi-ji Temple to see its symmetrical pagodas. From there, you'll go to Tōddai-ji and its Great Buddha, which is quite something to see in person. After that, take a peaceful walk through Nara Park where you can see sacred deer roaming around freely. You'll stay overnight in Nara.

Nara to Uji
Begin at Nara National Museum to see Buddhist art. You'll have free time and can grab lunch at Higashimuki Shopping Street. Later, head to Uji and check out Phoenix Hall at Byōdō-in Temple, which is known for its elegant design. Stroll around Omotesando Street and try some matcha treats like ice cream and sweets. Finish your day at Ujigami Shrine, which is Japan's oldest existing shrine building.
