Porto
You'll arrive in Porto and get picked up at the airport for transfer to your Emerald Radiance river cruise ship. After you get settled into your cabin, head to dinner on board this evening with the other passengers.

Douro Valley
Spend the day sailing through the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its two thousand years of wine production and terraced vineyards along the riverbanks. Tonight there's a welcome dinner and cocktail reception on board, followed by a Portuguese cooking demonstration to show you some local culinary techniques.

Vega de Terrón
Start with an included visit to Quinta do Tedo, an 18th-century vineyard where the Douro and Tedo rivers meet, and do a wine tasting there. If you prefer something different, you can choose between a guided walk through nearby vineyards or a kayak trip on the river. Afterward, the ship sails to Vega de Terrón where you can relax on the Sun Deck for the rest of the afternoon.

Salamanca
Travel to Salamanca, known as the Golden City and a UNESCO World Heritage site founded in Roman times. A guided walking tour takes you through the Plaza Mayor with its galleries and arcades, Casa de las Conchas which has over 300 shell decorations on its facade, and one of Europe's oldest universities from 1218. Back on board this evening, there's a tuna music band performance.

Régua
Head from Pocinho to the medieval town of Castelo Rodrigo to explore the fortress and try local products. Return to the ship for lunch, then attend a Port wine cocktail lesson on board as you sail toward Régua. There's an optional 4x4 archaeological tour to the Côa Valley Museum available at an extra charge if that interests you.

Lamego
Visit Lamego, a Baroque village with the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies overlooking the town. If you're up for it, you can walk down the 686 steps from the Sanctuary to reach the main square. Have a rural lunch at Quinta da Pacheca, one of the better wine estates on the Douro, and learn about Portuguese mosaic painting traditions during a session on board. An optional visit to Mateus Manor House is available for extra cost.

Porto
Return to Porto, where modern and ancient architecture mix together at the mouth of the Douro River. Your included tour covers Castelo da Foz and Castelo do Queijo, two fortified structures with distinctive pentagonal designs overlooking the ocean. Alternatively, join a guided walk through town to see how locals live their daily lives. You can also book optional excursions to Quinta da Aveleda or take a guided bike tour toward the Atlantic.
