I am tired of the tour guides ‘ORDERING’ us travelers to pay ‘tips and donations’ every place we go and to every person we meet. Tour guide orders us to pay and tells us ‘how much we OWE.’ We are ordered to pay on all activities that are INCLUDED in the tour, ALREADY paid for. I have had this happen twice in a row. Egypt in November 24, and now Thailand September 25. Both tour guides made the trip uncomfortable, asking for money all the time. I am going to have a serious talk with Collette before I book another tour. Tips are not ‘owed’ to anyone. It is inappropriate and rude to ASK for or demand tips.

Our tour guide Poy was fantastic! She was very organized, knowledgeable and helpful. She stayed with us all the way to the return airport to make sure we got all the assistance needed. The last tour night in Bangkok the Kantary hotel was marginal at best. Very musty odor like mold. The area was not near any decent shopping or eating. You may want to consider a different hotel.

The tuk-tuk taxi ride seeing Bangkok at night was amazing. Also the food was delicious wherever we were fed. Hotels as a single were amazing. King size beds and huge rooms. Much nicer than expected.

Chiang Mai - family farm visit. The earthquake really cemented the experience in my memory. I enjoyed visiting the family in their living room and learning of their customs. The team cooking was great but even better were all the local offerings. I was impressed with the cleaning behind the scenes. I saw a lot of questionable dish washing at small establishments on my tour of Asia. They did a wonderful job of making it feel safe while being authentic.
