It's time for your third country: Costa Rica. Transfer back to Guatemala City this morning for your flight to San Jose. From there, a three-hour journey takes you to La Fortuna, nestled near Arenal Volcano and surrounded by hot springs, waterfalls, and jungle. Your first evening in La Fortuna is at leisure.

Today starts at La Fortuna Waterfall, then you continue to Laguna Tabacon where you can opt for kayaking or paddleboarding. A hike to Arenal Volcano, one of Costa Rica's most popular hikes, follows. In the afternoon, you're walking across the Arenal Hanging Bridges high above the jungle canopy. After a busy day, soak your muscles in the La Fortuna hot springs where volcanic heat warms the water.

You're starting a 3-day adventure across Bolivia's salt flats to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. In Uyuni, visit the Train Cemetery where abandoned mining-era locomotives rust in the desert.
