Itinerary
- Day 1
Bujumbura
You'll arrive in Bujumbura and get settled into your hotel. Spend the afternoon down at Lake Tanganyika's beaches where the water's calm and there's plenty of shade if you need it. The sand is white and the whole area feels pretty relaxed. Later on, try some local food at one of the beachside restaurants and catch the sunset from a bar in the area, where there's usually live music playing.

Gitega
After breakfast, you're heading out to the Teza Tea Plantations to see all the green fields and get views of the mountains. From there, it's on to Gitega where the National Museum has traditional art and colonial artifacts worth looking at. By evening you'll finish at the Gishora Drum Sanctuary where they explain the history of the sacred royal drums and why they matter culturally.

Bujumbura
Grab breakfast first, then head to Karera Falls, which has five different waterfalls you can see in a natural reserve surrounded by thick green vegetation. Spend time walking around the falls and taking in the scenery. After that you'll head back to Bujumbura for a tour of the city, including stops at local markets where you can see how people shop and get a feel for daily life there.

Rusizi National Park
The morning starts with a boat cruise at Rusizi National Park where you'll watch for crocodiles and hippos along the Rusizi River from the water. Once you're back on land, there's a traditional Burundian meal waiting with local dishes and drinks. The food comes with live music and dance performances, so you get a real sense of what the country's culture is all about.
