Itinerary
- Day 1
Oaxaca to Capulalpam to Amatlánt Trek
You'll leave Oaxaca early in the morning for a 2-hour drive to Capulalpam de Méndez up in the Sierra Norte. Once you arrive, your local guide will meet you and you'll start a 12-kilometer hike through the mountain terrain. The hike takes about 4 hours at a comfortable pace with breaks built in, so you won't feel rushed. By evening you'll reach San Miguel Amatlánt where you'll have dinner and settle into your cabin for the night.

- Day 2
Latuvi Ancient Trails & Cultural Experiences
After a hearty breakfast, you'll head out on the Camino Real, an old pre-Hispanic trade route that still has original stone sections running through the Sierra Norte. This 16-kilometer hike takes 5 to 6 hours, and your guide will share information about Zapotec heritage and the local ecology as you walk. You'll reach Latuvi around lunch time, rest for a bit, then visit Señora Martha's place where you'll learn how she makes traditional pulque and tepache, plus you'll get to taste both.

Landmarks Camino Real Latuvi - Day 3
Benito Juárez Viewpoint & Return to Oaxaca
You'll start with breakfast in Latuvi, then tackle the final hike of the trip. The trail climbs from 2,400 to 2,900 meters through forest with different bird species and vegetation as you gain elevation. At the top, you'll reach the Benito Juárez viewpoint where you can see across Oaxaca's Central Valleys. After that, you'll hike down to Benito Juárez village for a farewell lunch, then private transport takes you back to Oaxaca City.
