Itinerary
- Day 1
Paro to Thimphu
You'll land at Paro International Airport where your guide and driver will be waiting. Depending on when you arrive, you could visit the 7th-century Kichu Lhakhang monastery, check out the National Museum of Bhutan (it's housed in an old watch tower), and see the Paro Rinpung Dzong fortress. After that, it's about a 1.5-hour drive to Thimphu covering 55km. If there's still daylight, you'll stop at the giant Buddha statue that overlooks the valley before heading to your hotel.

- Day 2
Thimphu
Start the day in Thimphu at the National Memorial Chorten, a sacred site dedicated to the Late Third King. From there, walk through the Bhutan Postal Museum to see their rare stamp collections, then head to the National Library & Archives and the National Institute of Zorig Chusum where you can learn about traditional Bhutanese arts and crafts being taught. After a traditional lunch, you'll drive past the Changlimithang Archery Range (watch the national sport if there's a match happening). Later in the afternoon, it's a 1.5-hour drive back to Paro, covering those same 55km.

Paro
Get an early breakfast, then drive to Ramthangka at the base of Taktsang monastery for your hike. The trail takes about 2 hours through shaded pine paths to reach Tiger's Nest monastery, which sits on an 800-meter cliff. Around the 1-hour mark, you'll reach a cafeteria where it's nice to stop for hot tea and snacks while looking out at the monastery and valley. From there, another hour of hiking gets you to the monastery itself (or you can return from the cafeteria if you prefer). After lunch back at the cafeteria, you'll hike down and spend your afternoon wandering Paro town. By evening, head to a local farmhouse for home-cooked dinner and a chance to experience how people actually live there.

Paro Departure
Have breakfast at your hotel, then transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure. Your driver will get you there based on your flight time.
