  1. Day 1

    London to Amsterdam

Meet your Contiki crew in London and head out on the coach toward Amsterdam. You'll take the ferry across the English Channel from Dover, and on a clear day you'll catch views of the White Cliffs as you pass through the water. After crossing into France at Calais, the journey continues through to Amsterdam. Once you arrive, there's an included group dinner to kick things off, then you're free to wander around the canals and check out the illuminated 17th century gable houses. Bicycles are everywhere, so it's worth seeing how locals get around.

This day is yours to explore Amsterdam at whatever pace suits you. The cobbled streets wind through the city, and canalside spots give you plenty of atmosphere. Consider stopping by the STRAAT museum or hitting up a cafe to try Dutch pancakes, frites, cheese, and stroopwafels. If you want something different, there's an optional trip to the fishing village of Volendam where you can grab dinner. Later in the evening, you can take an optional canal cruise that includes a bar onboard, so you'll have drinks while floating past the architecture.

The landscape shifts from city architecture to rolling countryside. You'll spend the day on a scenic river cruise, watching the Rhine flow past vineyards and small villages. It's a slower pace after Amsterdam, so you can relax and take in the views as the boat moves through wine country.

Your evening wraps up at a traditional Bavarian beer hall where you'll learn about 800 years of local history over drinks and food.

This trip was excellent but what really made the trip for me was our amazing trip manager Riana!! Nothing was too much for her and she went above and beyond in every possible way to make sure that each and every traveller had the best experience! She is extremely knowledgeable and seems to have a genuine interest in what she is doing, anybody that gets her as a trim is very lucky!!

I went with my sister. We had the best time meeting new people from all over the world. Our guide had everyone play games on the bus that would help us all get know one another better. We also would sing music together sometimes. She wanted to always make sure that we were having a good time.

Ri was the best part of the trip, it really wouldn’t have been the same without her! She was so knowledgeable about everywhere we went, and always had fun facts to share about every destination, which was so great She was so organised and really on top of everything, meaning we all didn’t have to worry at all, which let us really enjoy the trip itself So supportive and encouraging of everyone, pushing us out of our comfort zones to experience something new and challenging, and we are all better off for it - definitely some memories that will last me a lifetime! Ri also really worked hard to bring everyone out of their shells a little bit and it was so good, I know so many people on this trip made some friends for life I truly think Ri made this trip as amazing as it ever could have been, and I’m so grateful I had her as my Trip Manager
