Itinerary
- Day 1
Izmir to Pergamum
Your guide meets you in Izmir and then you'll head out to Pergamum to see the Acropolis, which really shows the scale of what was built there. The Altar of Zeus is the centerpiece of that site. From there, you'll check out Asklepion, a medical center from ancient times with some interesting details about how they treated people back then. The Red Basilica comes next on your route through the region. Before heading back to Izmir, there's a stop in Thyatira to walk through some Roman period structures. You'll finish the day with a panoramic tour of Izmir itself, getting a sense of the modern city alongside its historical layers.

Sardis to Pamukkale
This one starts early since there's quite a bit of ground to cover. Sardis is first, where you'll see a massive temple that was converted into a Byzantine church, plus a restored gymnasium and an old synagogue. Later, Philadelphia has a Byzantine basilica with 11th-century frescoes that are worth spending time with. Then you're heading to Hierapolis where the mineral springs and pools give you a chance to experience what made the place significant historically. You'll visit the Martyrium of the Apostle Philip, and after that comes a walk through Laodicea's ancient streets. By evening you'll settle into Pamukkale for the night.

Ephesus to Kusadasi
Today is focused on Ephesus, one of the big draws in this region. You'll walk the marble streets and pass by the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus (which is really the main photo spot), the Temple of Hadrian, and work your way to the Theatre. The House of the Virgin Mary is next, a pilgrimage site where she apparently spent her later years. From there, you'll see the Basilica of St. John and then the Temple of Artemis, which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, though not much remains now. Kusadasi is where you'll spend the night, just a short drive from Ephesus.
