Itinerary
- Day 1
Salta
You'll arrive in Salta and head straight to your hostel to get settled. The rest of the day is yours to spend however you like around this colonial city. Walking through the streets gives you a good feel for the place, and if museums interest you, there are several to check out. San Bernardo Hill offers views over the city if you're up for a climb. If you want to experience local culture, catch some traditional music at a peña venue later in the evening.

Landmarks/POIs San Bernardo Hill - Day 2
Purmamarca - Salinas Grandes
After breakfast, someone will pick you up at 7:30am for a full day trip. You'll travel along the Rio Grande and head up through the Andes foothills, stopping regularly for photos as you pass through quiet villages. Once you reach Purmamarca, you'll see the Hill of Seven Colors and have time to browse the handicrafts market. The drive continues through the Humahuaca gorge and climbs up the Cuesta de Lipan until you reach 4,150 metres altitude at the Salinas Grandes salt flats. There's free time to walk around the salt flats, then lunch at a local restaurant, more time for souvenirs at market stalls, and the return drive to your accommodation.

Landmarks/POIs Hill of Seven Colors Salinas Grandes Humahuaca Gorge Cuesta de Lipan Rio Grande - Day 3
Humahuaca
After breakfast, you'll be picked up at 9:00am for a full day heading north. The route takes you through several small towns like Tumbaya, Purmamarca, Maimará, Tilcara, and Uquía on the way to Humahuaca. In Purmamarca, you'll stop to see the Seven Colour Hill and its market. Tilcara has the Pucará fortress and an Archeological Museum worth seeing. You'll visit the local church in Uquía, then spend your longest stretch in Humahuaca itself, where you can slow down and take in the colonial architecture and local food. Plan to get back to Salta around 8pm.

Salta
After breakfast, you'll check out of your hostel and get transferred to the airport, which marks the end of your tour. If you want to arrange extensions or do other activities, contact tours@milhousehostel.com. There are other tours available from Salta including trips to Cachi, Cafayate, or a city tour around Salta itself if you're interested in adding more to your trip.
