Itinerary
- Day 1
Hacienda El Porvenir
You'll start with a scenic drive out to Hacienda El Porvenir where a traditional welcome drink sets the tone for what's ahead. Once you meet your Chagra guide, it's time to get in the saddle and ride along exclusive trails that wind through the area. Keep your eyes open for wild bulls and birds as you climb toward Ruminahui's slopes, and on clear days you'll see around 12 volcanoes in the distance from up there. Lunch comes after the morning ride, then you'll help feed the horses and get familiar with traditional Chagra gear before settling in for your first night.

- Day 2
Eastern Mountain Range
This day involves a long ride covering about 43 km through the eastern mountain range with Cotopaxi dominating the view behind you. You'll pass by Pucará del Salitre, an ancient Inca fortress, and stop for lunch next to mountain rivers and hidden lakes. After 6 to 7 hours on horseback, you'll reach Hacienda El Tambo, where a warm fire and traditional dinner are waiting for you to wind down after such a full day.

- Day 3
Quilindaña Foothills
Following breakfast, the ride takes you through foothills near Quindañá, an old volcano that reaches 4,878 meters (15,999 ft). The native forest here has pantza trees and moss-covered woods that feel untouched. You'll get a chance to walk through this forest surrounded by lichen and bromeliads while hearing local legends from your guide. After eating a packed lunch, it's time to ride back to Hacienda El Tambo for another satisfying dinner.

- Day 4
Chagra Skills and Trout Fishing
After breakfast, you'll learn Chagra skills like lassoing, cattle handling, knot tying, and prepare for a small rodeo, which is the Andean version of a cattle drive. Following lunch, expert Chagras will take you trout fishing and teach you traditional techniques plus how they prepare the catch locally. The day ends with dinner and an evening at Hacienda El Tambo to rest up.

- Day 5
Return to Hacienda El Porvenir and Quito
The final ride starts early after a hacienda breakfast, following the Tambo River toward Cotopaxi's base while riding past Sincholagua Volcano with views of the surrounding highlands. You'll eat a packed lunch out in the open country. From there, you'll cross through Cotopaxi National Park on a scenic route back to Hacienda El Porvenir, where the trip concludes, and then a vehicle transfers you back to Quito.
