Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival at Wataraco Community Lodge
You'll arrive from Quito by bus or private transfer and get met at the Wataraco Community entrance, then head by canoe to the lodge. After settling in, you'll get a welcome drink and freshen up in your room. This afternoon, you'll learn about plant distillation techniques in an essential oils workshop, and then spend time with a Kichwa family for a cleansing ceremony. You'll also pick up how to make chicha and try using blowguns and spears before heading to dinner.

- Day 2
Rainforest Exploration and Nocturnal Jungle Walk
There's an optional early morning birdwatching safari from the lodge's open truck if you want to catch colorful birds. After breakfast, you'll take a guided rainforest hike (bilingual guide available) where you'll learn about medicinal plants and what climate change is doing to the forest. Back at the lodge for lunch, then you'll participate in making chocolate from locally fermented cacao beans. Later on, you'll go for a nocturnal jungle walk with flashlights to see what kinds of creatures come out at night.

Departure from Lodge
You'll wake up to jungle sounds and have a final breakfast while looking out at the rainforest. Take some time to think back on what you've done during your stay, then prepare to leave the lodge. Knowing that your visit helped support sustainable tourism and conservation efforts will stay with you on the way out.
