  1. Day 1

    Istanbul

    You'll land at Istanbul Airport and get transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to spend however you like. Some people grab lunch and walk around the neighborhoods, while others prefer to rest after traveling.

  2. Day 2

    Istanbul to Bursa

    An early morning drive takes you to Bursa, which was the first Ottoman capital. You'll see the Grand Mosque with its detailed calligraphy work, then head to Tophane District to check out the Tombs of Osman and Orhan Gazi. After that, try some authentic Turkish Delight before visiting the Green Mosque and Tomb, which shows off early Ottoman design really well.

    Bursa to Kusadasi

    The morning brings a drive to Kusadasi. From there you'll head to Sirince Village, a hillside town known for its fruit wines and old Turkish houses. There's free time to wander the shops and sit at local cafes if you want to soak in the atmosphere.

    Kusadasi to Ephesus

    This is a full day exploring Ephesus, one of the best-kept ancient cities around. You'll see the House of the Virgin Mary and walk through the Temple of Artemis ruins. There's a leather store fashion show to watch, and lunch happens at a weaving center where you can learn how traditional Turkish carpets get made.

    If weather cooperates, there's an optional hot air balloon ride over Pamukkale early in the morning. Later you'll visit a textile factory to see high-quality Turkish cotton goods, then drive toward Cappadocia. Along the way, you'll stop in Konya to see the Mausoleum of Mevlana, an important spiritual site for Sufism.

    Weather permitting, an early morning hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia's fairy chimneys is available. The day includes exploring Goreme Open Air Museum with its rock-cut churches (it's a UNESCO site), climbing Uchisar Castle for views, and walking through Pigeon Valley, Devrent Valley, and Pasabag Valley. You'll also go down into Ozkonak Underground City to see how people lived below ground.

    You'll drive to Ankara, Turkey's capital. The Mausoleum of Ataturk honors the founder of modern Turkey, and it's definitely worth the time. Salt Lake is a quick stop, then you can spend time at the Anatolian Civilizations Museum looking at artifacts from different periods. Finishing up, Ankara Castle gives you historical context and nice city views from above.
