Itinerary
- Day 1
Bergen
You'll arrive at Bergen airport and pick up your rental car. The rest of the day is yours to explore Bergen at your own pace. Walk through the fish market, check out the colorful wooden buildings of Bryggen (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and if you're up for it, take the funicular up Mount Fløien for views across the city. There's no set schedule, so you can move at whatever speed feels right.

Bergen to Balestrand
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll have some time to explore Bergen on your own before driving to Balestrand. The drive takes you through some beautiful scenery and you'll arrive at Sognefjord, Norway's longest fjord stretching 204 km. Along the way you'll pass through the Aurlandsfjord, a 17-kilometer arm of this waterway that ranks among the world's most well-known fjords. By evening you'll be settled in Balestrand.

Landmarks Sognefjord Aurlandsfjord - Day 3
Balestrand
After breakfast, the day is completely yours to spend however you like exploring the region. If you're interested, there's an optional half-day excursion to Fjærland available from June 1 through September 30. The boat ride takes you through Fjærland fjord with stops at Boyabreen and Supphellebreen glaciers, and you'll also visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum. Otherwise, you can relax or do your own thing around the area.

Balestrand to Sunnfjord
After breakfast, you'll drive to Sunnfjord, a region known for its deep fjords, towering mountains, and lush valleys. The area attracts people interested in outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, fishing, and kayaking. Beyond the natural scenery, you'll find a strong cultural heritage here with traditional folk music, dance, and local cuisine woven through the communities. There's plenty to discover whether you want activity or just to take things in.

Landmarks Sunnfjord - Day 5
Sunnfjord to Flåm to Hardangerfjord
After breakfast, you'll head to Flåm and get on a fjord cruise along Nærøyfjord. The cruise takes you through narrow waterways, then you'll return from Gudvangen back to Flåm by bus. If you want, you can board the famous Flåmsbana train, one of the world's steepest rail lines, which winds through 20 tunnels with waterfalls and mountain views along the way. Later in the day, you'll drive on to Hardangerfjord, one of Norway's most well-known and scenic fjords.

Hardangerfjord
After breakfast, you'll spend time exploring Ulvik and the surrounding Hardangerfjord area. This small village sits surrounded by mountains and greenery. You can visit Vøringsfossen waterfall near Eidfjord, check out the Hardanger Folk Museum to learn about regional heritage, or hike on one of the numerous trails around the area. There are natural and cultural attractions scattered throughout, so you have options depending on your interests.

It's a good day to pick up any last-minute items or simply decompress after a full week of traveling.

Departure from Bergen
