- Day 1
Casablanca
You'll arrive in Casablanca and meet the group at 6 pm. If you get there early, there's time to walk through the city and check out spots like the Villa des Arts gallery with its art deco architecture or the Museum of Judaism. It's a good way to get your bearings before everything officially kicks off.

Casablanca to Tangier to Chefchaouen
Board the TGV train to Tangier early in the morning. Once you arrive, a leader takes you on an orientation walk around town, and you can stop by Café Hafa for mint tea with views toward Gibraltar if you want. Later, a private vehicle picks you up for the drive to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. You'll catch the sunset from a viewpoint overlooking the blue-painted town, and there's local goat's cheese available if you're feeling peckish.

Chefchaouen
This is your free day in Chefchaouen, so you've got options. Walk through the medina with a local guide, sit at a café in Plaza Uta el-Hammam and sample local food, or head out hiking to Akchour Falls if you're up for it. Come evening, try a tagine at a restaurant or relax at a traditional hammam spa.

Chefchaouen to Moulay Idriss
After breakfast, you'll drive through the countryside to Moulay Idriss, a sacred village in the hills. Wander through the medina and visit the tomb of Moulay Idriss, the great-grandson of Mohammed who introduced Islam to Morocco. Stick around for sunset views across the plains of Volubilis. Tonight you're staying at a local guesthouse where your host prepares a hearty dinner, giving you a real sense of local hospitality.

Moulay Idriss to Meknes to Fes
A local guide leads you through the UNESCO site of Volubilis, showing you the remains of this remote Roman base. After that, you drive to Meknes for a couple of hours to explore on your own. Then it's onward to Fes, where you'll stay for two nights. The city is the Arab world's most complete medieval city and really feels like the spiritual heart of Morocco, so there are good local restaurants if you want dinner with the group.

Fes
A guided walk takes you through Fes el Bali, the Old City, and you'll feel like you've stepped into the Middle Ages as you wind through the medina past craftsmen, markets, tanneries, and mosques. You'll see the restored Medersa Bou Inania, check out Medresse el Attarine and the beautifully restored 18th-century Funduq al-Najjarin. The famous tannery and ceramic factory are on the route too. By afternoon you've got free time, and there's an optional Moroccan feast in the evening with harira soup and chicken-stuffed pies with couscous.

Fes to Marrakech
Take a train to Marrakech, riding alongside locals through the landscape and arriving late in the afternoon. A local guide walks you through the medina, and you'll meet a coffee enthusiast who shows off a special brewing method using hot sand. Later, join the crowds at Djemaa el-Fna, the main square, which comes alive after dark with henna painters, performers, storytellers, and street food vendors.

Marrakech
You've got a free day to explore Marrakech however you like. There are no scheduled activities until 6 pm when new travelers join the group for a welcome meeting. If you want to relax, your leader can help arrange a hammam session.

Marrakech to Imlil to Aroumd
A short drive takes you into the High Atlas Mountains to Imlil. You'll leave your main bags behind and pack an overnight bag onto mules, then trek for about an hour to Aroumd, a remote village on a rocky outcrop. Stay in a family-run mountain gite and experience traditional Amazigh culture along with mountain views. There's an optional 4-hour hike to Sidi Chamharouch, a pilgrimage shrine, if the weather cooperates and the group wants to go.

Aroumd to Ait Benhaddou
You'll drive through the mountains and cross Tizi n'Tichka, Morocco's highest pass at 2,260 m, then reach Ait Benhaddou on the Sahara's edge. This UNESCO site has barely changed since the 11th century and was an important stop for salt traders. You might recognize it from films like Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones. A leader walks you through the winding streets to the hilltop for sweeping views. There's an optional cooking demonstration and meal of couscous and tagine later.

Ait Benhaddou to Zagora to Tamegroute to M'Hamid to Erg Chigaga
This is a full day of driving south toward the Sahara. After breakfast you'll pass through Draa Valley to Zagora to see the old caravan routes. Then through the rugged Jbel Tadrart ranges across sand and oases to Tamegroute, where you'll visit an ancient library holding scripts on science, literature, and the Prophet Mohammed, plus an underground kasbah. Keep driving to M'Hamid, switch to 4WDs, and head to Erg Chigaga, the largest dunes in the Moroccan Sahara and less crowded than other spots. You'll arrive in late afternoon, hop on a camel for a sunset ride into the desert, then sleep under the stars.

Erg Chigaga to Tissint to Tata
Early risers can head out to watch sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you'll board the 4WDs and drive out of the desert, switching back to your regular vehicle on the way to Tata. Stop at the Attiq waterfall at Tissint for a refreshing break (Tissint means salt in the local language). You'll arrive in Tata mid-afternoon with a free evening, and your leader can take you downtown for a local dinner if you want.

Tata to Tleta Tagmoute to Tafraoute
Drive to Tleta Tagmoute to see the unique oasis granaries, date palm plantations, and fruit trees. Learn about the local lifestyle and irrigation system by visiting the old collective granary that's still in use. Then head to Tafraoute in the afternoon, a small village in the Anti Atlas Mountains. There's a village walk and you can visit local souqs to see how traditional Moroccan slippers are made.

Tafraoute
You'll hike through the Ameln Valley this morning past small Amazigh villages, both old and new, walking among palm, almond, and alfalfa. Visit a traditional Amazigh house to learn about household life and your host's story while sharing mint tea. Lunch comes with valley views. Afterward, check out the Pierres Bleues, boulders that a Belgian artist spray-painted in 1984 and remain controversial today. Bring sturdy shoes for the rocky ground.

Tafraoute to Essaouira
This is a long travel day heading toward the Atlantic through desert scenery and a reserve of argan trees. Stop at a women's cooperative to learn how argan oil is produced and taste freshly made Amlou paste. The cooperative provides income and independence for rural women and families. Then continue to Essaouira, a coastal town with whitewashed houses, bright blue shutters, art galleries, and wood workshops. Your evening is free to explore or take it easy.

Essaouira
After breakfast, a local guide walks you through the old medina, Jewish mellah, port, and skala or sea wall. As one of the country's oldest port cities, Essaouira keeps traditional fishing alive. Meet fishermen at the port who share their stories, techniques, and seasonal knowledge. The rest of the day is yours. Jimi Hendrix hung out here in the 60s, making it a perfect spot to sit and listen to the ocean. Grab fresh seafood at the port, browse galleries, try surfing, or book a traditional hammam.

You've got a free morning in Essaouira before catching a bus back to Marrakech in the afternoon. Once you arrive, explore on your own pace or join optional activities. Walk around Djemaa el-Fna with its fire dancers, performers, and street food carts. Check out Palais Bahia, a great example of Muslim architecture, or see the ruins of Palais Badi. Your group gathers for an optional farewell dinner.
