Highlights
- Explore Cusco, South America's oldest continuously inhabited city. The city has ancient foundations, an interesting blend of Incan and colonial influences, and seemingly endless things to do and see.
- Adjust to the altitude with a pisco sour and some ceviche to get to know Peruvian cuisine.
- Travel through the Sacred Valley – known for its steep and soaring scenery, its mystical significance for the Inca and the indigenous cultures that still reside here.
- Explore the greatest icon of ancient South America and one of the Seven Wonders of the world – Machu Picchu – on a guided tour.
- Experience the untouched, evergreen splendour of the Amazon Jungle. Explore rainforest trails with a local guide, looking out for monkeys, parrots and medicinal plants, then fall asleep in a lodge lit by candles and kerosene lamps.

Ray and· January 27th, 20221. Leon de Oro hotel in Lima was not good. Did not pick us up at the airport as requested. Instant coffee packets for breakfast. Loud air condtioner, no hot water. Front desk was on the rude side. When I asked for an extra night they wanted $84 when the online price was $33. The location was not a nice area. 2. Leo was very nice and knowledgeable but the excursion to downtown felt rushed, we were crammed onto a public bus in high covid season. The tour guide did not join us in the catacombs and the the only language spoken was Spanish. The churros were delicious but we had to eat on the run to keep up with him. 3. All my wife's plane and train tickets were issued with the wrong name. Intrepid argued with us for days, blaming us, before making the needed changes. 4. Edwind was great. Extremely knowledgeable. Sometimes maybe a little too much information. The non hiking tour did not have much substance other than Machu Picchu itself and the one day we traveled to some ruins near Cusco. We had to request exploring Ollantaytambo and pay extra for it. We really enjoyed the meal we had at local home restaurant in Cusco. 5. The hotel in Cusco was nice, warm showers, very clean, great location, good breakfasts. The hotel in Ollantaytambo was nice also. The lodge in the Amazon jungle was also very cool and nice. 6. Victor was great, Extremely knowledgeable about the jungle. We saw many cool animals and had a lot of interesting experiences. 7. We weren't allowed to hike up Wynapicchu because of Intrepid rules. So the worst of it, we feel was caused by Intrepid themselves. The hotel in Lima, the train and plane tickets, their attitude, their restrictions.Show more
