I've never felt so welcomed in a place before, nor have I ever seen such towering mountains, that too so close to camp. I had my reservations about traveling in Pakistan as a woman, but I was so, so wrong. I felt safe and well looked after the whole trip. There’s a vitality in the people here that’s difficult to describe resilient, warm, and full of life. The landscapes are just as unforgettable. I saw five 7,000-meter peaks in one sweeping view from valley floor. Reaching the base of Rakaposhi was undoubtedly the most rewarding trek I've ever done. Found Expeditions ran the trip with precision and deep respect for the land and culture. The trip was full of authentic, meaningful interactions, from eating at women-run restaurants like Lal Shehzadi to village walks and sharing a traditional meal with a local host family. Muneer Alam, our tour leader, deserves special recognition, as he is perhaps the most incredible tour leader I have ever encountered. Funny, kind, and endlessly knowledgeable, he brought the whole experience to life. His passion for Hunza and adventure travel shined through every moment. Traveling with him was a joy.
