- Day 1
Florence
You'll arrive in Tuscany with your rental car and head straight into Florence for a full day of art and history. Start at the Basilica of Santa Croce, then check out the Palazzo Vecchio to see the replica of Michelangelo's David. After that, spend time at the Uffizi Gallery, which holds some of the most important Renaissance works you'll find anywhere. Later, wander through the narrow streets and grab a coffee at Piazza della Repubblica before driving to your hotel in the Montecatini area for the night.

- Day 2
Pisa and Lucca
After breakfast at your hotel, you have the whole day to explore at your own pace. Drive to Pisa first to see the Leaning Tower and the Square of Miracles with its cathedral, baptistery, and cemetery. Then head to Lucca, a medieval town where you can climb the Guinigi Tower and Clock Tower for views over the city and surrounding countryside. Walk through the piazza of the amphitheater and visit the church of San Michele in Foro. The drive between these towns is about 106 km total.

- Day 3
Livorno to Bastia to Ajaccio
After breakfast, drive to Livorno and take the ferry across to Corsica, arriving in Bastia for a quick tour of the old town. From there, continue to Ajaccio and then head into the interior to explore Corte, the historic capital, where you can see the citadel and valley views. Visit the Museum of Anthropology, walk the heritage trails, see the Eiffel-designed Vechju Bridge, and check out the Route des Sens where local artisans work. You'll cover about 260 km and stay 2 nights in the Ajaccio area.

- Day 4
Ajaccio and Coastal Excursion
Start with breakfast, then spend the morning in Ajaccio exploring the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. Visit the Maison Bonaparte and the Fesch Museum, which has an impressive collection of European paintings, then see the Imperial Chapel. Drive to the Greek village of Cargèse with its two distinctive churches, then continue to Piana, known for its location in the Calanques with pink granite cliffs rising from the sea. You can take an optional boat trip to the Scandala reserve or hike in the Laricio pine forests if interested. Head back to Ajaccio through Vico village, covering about 140 km for the day.

- Day 5
Bonifacio to Santa Teresa to Tempio Pausania
After breakfast, head to Bonifacio and explore the medieval upper town sitting on a dramatic cliff with panoramic views over the water. Walk through the Santa Anna district to see the medieval architecture up close. Travel inland to Sartène and visit the Place de la Liberation and the Museum of Corsican Prehistory. Continue to Propriano and the prehistoric site of Filitosa before taking the ferry from Bonifacio across to Sardinia. You'll arrive in Santa Teresa di Gallura and drive to your hotel in the Tempio Pausania area. The drive is approximately 148 km.

Alghero - Capo Caccia - Porto Conte
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll drive to Alghero to walk through the historic center and check out the old city walls, Spanish towers, and churches scattered around the area. From the port there, you'll take a boat trip out to the Caves of Nettuno, which is the main highlight for most people. After that, you head to Capo Caccia and the Bay of Porto Conte where you get some really nice panoramic views of the coastline. On the way back, stop at Nuraghe Palmavera to see this historic site before returning to your hotel. Keep in mind the full drive is around 250 km, so you're looking at a fairly full day with a lot of driving time mixed in with the sightseeing.

- Day 7
Stintino, Asinara Island, and Palmavera
After breakfast, head northwest toward Stintino, which is about 50 minutes from Alghero and known for its turquoise water and nice beaches including La Pelosa. Visit the Tuna Museum to learn about the village's fishing history. Take the ferry to Asinara, a protected national park island famous for its albino donkeys, with pristine bays and beaches, plus a sea turtle rescue center and farm producing donkey milk products. After the ferry back to Stintino, stop at the Nuraghe Palmavera complex before returning to Alghero. The drive is about 305 km.

Costa Smeralda and Ferry to Livorno
After breakfast, head northeast toward Costa Smeralda. First, stop at Nuraghe La Prisgiona in Arzachena, one of thousands of Bronze Age round towers found throughout the Mediterranean. Drive through the mountain village of San Pantaleo with its striking granite rock formations, then continue to Baia Sardinia and Porto Cervo to explore the upscale resort area with its shops, restaurants, and marina. Drive to Olbia port and board your overnight ferry to Livorno. You'll spend the night in a cabin on the ship. The drive is about 70 km.

Livorno
You'll arrive at the port of Livorno where your road trip wraps up. If you chose the rental car option, you'll need to return your vehicle to the rental location. From there, you can either arrange your individual departure or look into extending your stay if that interests you.
