Itinerary
- Day 1
Datong
You'll arrive in Datong by high-speed train and meet your private guide at the station. They'll help with your luggage and take you to your hotel for check-in. This gives you time to settle in and get oriented after your journey.



- Day 2
Datong
Spend your day on a private tour of Datong's cultural sites. Start at the Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site housing over 51,000 Buddhist statues carved into the cliff. After that, you'll head to the historic Huayan Temple, then finish at the Nine-Dragon Screen, which is China's largest glazed screen wall.

Datong to Mount Wutai
You'll transfer from Datong toward Mount Wutai with temple stops along the way. First, you'll see the Hanging Temple built directly into cliff faces over 1,500 years ago. Next comes the Wooden Pagoda in Ying County, China's oldest and tallest wooden pagoda. Then it's a 3-hour drive to Mount Wutai, one of China's Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains.

- Day 4
Mount Wutai to Taiyuan
Starting from Mount Wutai, you'll travel toward Taiyuan with temple visits on the route. The Xiantong Temple is first, known for being Mount Wutai's largest temple and home to an enormous copper bell. Then you'll visit the Pusading Temple with its grand royal-style halls, followed by the Tayuan Temple and its iconic Great White Pagoda. The drive to Taiyuan takes about 4 hours.

Taiyuan to Changzhi
Today you're heading from Taiyuan to Changzhi with enriching stops along the way. You'll begin at the 1,400-year-old Jinci Temple, which has over 100 sculptures and structures to explore. After that, visit the Dayun Temple in Qin County. Then it's a scenic 3-hour drive to Changzhi to wrap up the day.

Changzhi

Jincheng to Linfen
Today involves traveling from Jincheng to Linfen with several historical stops. After that comes the Hongtong Ming Dynasty Prison. The final drive to Linfen takes about 4 hours.
