  Terrible Experience – Misleading, Disorganized, and Not What Was Advertised We booked a 1000 Islands tour through TourRadar for the dates Friday, May 30th to Sunday, June 1st, 2025, and the experience was a complete mess from start to finish. TourRadar completely misrepresented the trip. What they sold us was copied directly from another company’s itinerary – Tours of Distinction – without clearly disclosing that the trip was organized for a specific group from an assisted living facility. This lack of transparency led to a trip that was nothing like what we expected or paid for. Here’s what actually happened: • Arrival Confusion: We (two couples) traveled from different states and arrived a day early, booking extra nights at the hotel based on TourRadar’s advertised itinerary, which said the tour would begin early Friday morning. However, upon checking in and asking about the tour, hotel staff informed us—for the first time—that the tour bus wouldn’t arrive until 3:00 PM, as it was coming from Connecticut. No one from TourRadar or Tours of Distinction told us this beforehand. • Unpleasant Surprise: When the bus finally arrived, we realized that the tour was part of a package specifically organized for residents of an elderly community center. That was never mentioned in the listing, and we were shocked and disappointed. • Friday: Instead of a full day of touring as promised, we only had dinner. The rest of the day was lost waiting for the group to arrive. • Saturday: This was the only decent day of the tour. We visited Boldt Castle and Singer Castle, and had breakfast and dinner as listed. • Sunday Disaster: We were once again left in the dark. The itinerary included a boat ride on the Erie Canal, but no one told us that the tour bus wouldn’t be returning to the hotel afterward. It was heading straight back to Connecticut with the rest of the group. We were left to drive ourselves 2 hours to the canal and 2 hours back, completely unprepared and unsupported. The lack of communication between TourRadar and Tours of Distinction was unacceptable. At every point, we had to pry information out of the tour director, who was unhelpful and dismissive. When the tour ended, there was no thank-you, no apology—just the bus driving away. This was not a tour meant for the general public, and TourRadar had no business selling it as such. It was misleading, poorly organized, and deeply disappointing. We feel cheated and misled, and TourRadar should be ashamed for allowing this to happen. Do not book with TourRadar if you expect clarity, professionalism, or basic customer respect.
