  1. Day 1

    Luqa to Mellieha

You'll land in Luqa and get transferred to your hotel in Mellieha, which sits in the quieter rural north of the island. Depending on your arrival time, there's a chance to take a walk around and catch the sunset if you're not too tired from travel.

From there, head to Casa Rocca Piccola to walk through the palace museum and get a feel for how the nobility lived. After that, make your way to St. John's Co-Cathedral, which has some incredible artwork inside, including a Caravaggio painting and those ornate vaulted ceilings that really catch your eye when you look up. You'll have some free time to grab lunch or just relax before heading to the Malta Experience Show later. This multimedia presentation runs through the island's history and culture, so it's a good way to tie together everything you've seen so far.

The tour guide was great, organized, highly motivated, extensive knowledge. The hotels were ok, the rooms varied, obviously the cheap option within the hotels. The choice of flights was catastrophic. Instead of direct flights, there were stopovers with long waiting times, we were practically on the road for a whole day each time. The flight from Vienna to Edinborough also had to be rebooked, but this was not the responsibility of the travel agency.
