Arrival in Madeira
You arrive on Madeira and get transferred to your hotel. After settling in, spend your first afternoon getting used to the island's Atlantic sunshine and getting oriented to where you'll be staying.

Cabo São Lourenço Hike
Start your first hike heading to Cabo São Lourenço on Madeira's eastern cape. The volcanic rock formations and sparse vegetation create dramatic scenery as you walk through the barren landscape. Later you'll have a picnic with local products before making your way back to where you started.

Machico Valley and Boca do Risco Hike
Walk through the Machico valley's green slopes toward Boca do Risco. From there the path narrows along the clifftop heading to the Larano fields, and you get views of both the Atlantic and the neighboring island of Porto Santo. By evening you'll reach Porto da Cruz and relax at a beach café.

Funchal Exploration
Spend the day in Funchal, Madeira's capital. Start at Santa Catarina Park seeing plants from around the world, then walk through the steep narrow streets of the old town. Check out the cathedral and the colorful market hall, grab lunch at a fish restaurant, then finish with a Madeira wine tasting.

Pico Ruivo Summit and Coastal Cycling
Hike from Pico do Arieiro up to Pico Ruivo, Madeira's highest peak, on a secured mountain trail with wide views across the island. After resting at the mountain hut, you'll descend to Achada do Teixeira. Later cycle along the north coast to your next accommodation.

Paul da Serra Plateau and Levada Labyrinth
Drive over Encumeada Pass to reach the Paul da Serra plateau. Walk along the sunny southern slopes, then head north where denser woodland and the UNESCO laurel forest take over. You'll explore parts of the levada system on various paths with some steep sections, then finish at Porto Moniz for a swim in the sea pool.

Take a short walk down to a small levada on the eastern slope of the São Vicente valley. Walk through São Vicente village, see St. Vincent Church, and have lunch at a seaside restaurant with Atlantic views.

Pico Grande Summit
This hike is a highlight of the trip starting with views of the Serra de Agua valley. Climb up to the Boca de Cerro saddle on a pilgrim path where seasonal flowers bloom. From there tackle the exposed rocky steps to Pico Grande's summit. The descent drops 1,100 meters through gorse bushes and chestnut forests into the Nonnental valley with views throughout.

Eira do Mourao and Levada Norte
Climb steep steps to reach Eira do Mourao, a village sitting high above a valley where farmers work terraced fields on near-vertical slopes. Follow the Levada Norte as it cuts through rock faces with the Ribeira Brava valley spread below you. Continue on the levada, then head downhill on sunny slopes as the south coast comes into view.
