Departure
Your flight to Windhoek takes off this evening, so you'll head to the airport and settle in for the journey to Namibia.
- Day 2
Windhoek
You'll be met at Windhoek airport and driven to your hotel in the capital city, which sits between the Auas, Eros and Khomas mountains. After checking in, the choice is yours. You can rest up or take a walk through town with guidance from your guide.

Landmarks Windhoek - Day 3
Rehoboth
Start with a city tour looking at German colonial buildings and the Katutura district, then stop at the Penduka women's initiative to see handmade crafts. From there, head south into the landscape toward Rehoboth where a local guide takes you through the red Kalahari dunes. You'll likely spot springboks, oryx antelopes, ostriches and possibly giraffes before wrapping up with a sunset drink.

Fish River Canyon
Drive to Keetmanshoop, the administrative center of southern Namibia, and visit the quiver tree forest with more than 250 tree aloes. Later you'll reach Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon system in the world, for a walk along the rim with good spots for photos.

Lüderitz
This morning you'll go to Aus, a small village where wild horses adapted to desert conditions come to the watering hole. Then continue to Lüderitz, the historic center of the old German colony built on granite overlooking the Atlantic. You'll see the rock church landmark and get views over the former diamond mining area.

Sossusvlei Area
Check out Kolmannskuppe, a ghost town where sand has slowly reclaimed the houses left by diamond hunters a century ago. Many buildings are half buried, creating an unusual landscape. After that, you'll drive through beautiful desert scenery to reach your accommodation.

- Day 7
Sossusvlei
Head to Sossusvlei early in the morning, a huge drainless clay depression ringed by tall dunes. You'll switch to desert vehicles and see how light plays across the world's highest sand dunes. Later you'll walk through the surreal Deadvlei with dead camel thorn trees, then do an easy hike in Sesriem Canyon, a one-kilometer limestone gorge 30 meters deep.

Sossusvlei to Swakopmund
Drive west through Naukluft Park toward the coast via Ghaub Pass and the striking Kuiseb Pass, passing odd rock formations and rocky desert terrain. By afternoon you'll reach Walvis Bay to see flamingos and migratory birds at a protected lagoon, then continue to Swakopmund for the evening.

Swakopmund
Look for the Welwitschia Mirabilis, a living fossil plant that can survive 2,000 years in harsh desert conditions on bare soil. In the afternoon, you have time to walk around Swakopmund on your own, including the woodcarvers' market near the lighthouse where local artisans sell handmade wooden sculptures.

Twyfelfontein
Drive through the land of the Damara people, some of Namibia's oldest inhabitants. Visit the Living Museum of the Damara to learn about their traditional culture and daily life. Then see the rock engravings made by the San at Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Landmarks Twyfelfontein - Day 11
Etosha National Park
Go on a game drive through Etosha National Park, which covers more than 20,000 square kilometers. You'll spot springboks, impalas, zebras, wildebeests, elephants, giraffes, lions and black rhinos from a touring vehicle. Even seasoned safari visitors find plenty to see and photograph here.

Etosha National Park
Two more game drives fill the day, one early and one in the afternoon, both in open off-road vehicles with experienced rangers. Bring your camera because you'll have another chance to capture wildlife and see the range of animals moving through the park.

Etosha to Windhoek
Head south through the land of the Herero people and learn about their history. You'll reach a lodge near Windhoek where you'll have a final dinner reviewing the trip. If interested, you can book an optional game drive at the lodge to look for rhinos.
