Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Halifax

    You'll arrive in Halifax and get settled into your accommodation right in the middle of the city's lively downtown area. The tour guide will meet you and the rest of the group for a welcome meeting to go over what's coming up during the trip.

  2. Day 2

    Peggy's Cove - Lunenburg

    Head out to Peggy's Cove for breakfast with views of one of the world's most photographed lighthouses sitting right there in the fishing village. From there you'll travel along the south shore to Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the colonial buildings are really well-preserved. The Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic fills in the town's maritime history and seafaring past.

  3. Day 3

    Charlottetown

    Start your morning at the Millbrook Cultural & Heritage Centre learning about the Mi'kmaq people and their history. Then you'll cross the Confederation Bridge, which is the world's longest continuous multi-span bridge, over to Prince Edward Island. You'll be in Charlottetown for the next two nights, and there's a theatre performance with local performers at the Confederation Centre of the Arts this evening.

  4. Day 4

    Charlottetown

    The morning is yours to rest or walk around Charlottetown on your own, with a complimentary guided walking tour available if you want it. In the afternoon, you'll tour the north shore of Prince Edward Island where red cliffs meet white beaches and sand dunes spread across lush green fields in the national park. Visit Anne of Green Gables Heritage Place, then head to a traditional hall-style lobster supper with fresh seafood.

    After taking the ferry across the Northumberland Strait back to Nova Scotia, you'll head to Cape Breton Island via the Canso Causeway, an area often called the Scotland of North America. A sightseeing boat tour on Bras d'Or Lake is included when you arrive, then you'll settle into Baddeck for a two-night stay in this charming village.

  6. Day 6

    Cape Breton Highlands National Park - Baddeck

    Today brings one of North America's most incredible drives along the Cabot Trail, winding around Cape Breton's rocky northern shore and climbing up to the plateaus of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. You'll stop at several scenic lookouts for coastal views, and later visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site to learn about the inventor's life and his various accomplishments.

The drive back follows the shore of Bras d'Or Lake, and then you'll head to Halifax for your last night in the Maritimes.

    Our tour guide Robb McQueen was excellent, very knowledgeable and informative. The sites we visited were good, although some were crowded due to other tours visiting at the same time, resulting in our tour not having enough time to see everything.
