You'll arrive in Washington DC and get transferred to your hotel on your own. The rest of the day is yours to settle in and walk around the capital however you like, getting a feel for the city.

Washington DC
Spend the day checking out DC's major landmarks like the White House, Capitol, and Lincoln Memorial. You can also head to Arlington National Cemetery to see the Kennedy graves, or if museums interest you more, the Smithsonian has the Air and Space Museum and others. If you want to get out of the city, there are optional day trips to Alexandria or Mount Vernon, where George Washington's historic estate has gardens, a mill, and farm grounds to walk through.

Washington DC to Philadelphia
Take the train north through Maryland to Philadelphia, where the country's founding happened. By evening you'll arrive and can walk along the Delaware River, getting a first look at this historic city where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Philadelphia
Spend your time in Philadelphia walking through history. You'll see Independence Hall where the Constitution was drafted, the Betsy Ross House, and the Museum of Art with its famous Rocky Steps. Board the train heading north through New Jersey into New York City. Once you reach your Manhattan hotel, you can start exploring the city right away this evening, getting into the rhythm of the metropolis.

New York City
New York offers plenty to see and do. Catch a Broadway show, grab coffee at Saks Fifth Avenue, or spend time in world-class museums. The landmarks you can't miss include Wall Street, Central Park, Lincoln Center, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and Rockefeller Center. You can walk the Brooklyn Bridge for views, take a water taxi along the rivers, or catch a basketball or baseball game if that appeals to you.

Boston
Boston is best seen on foot. Follow the Freedom Trail marked on the sidewalks to reach major sites, check out Quincy Market, and see the USS Constitution, the country's oldest warship still afloat. Wander through historic Beacon Hill if you like wandering residential streets, or there's an optional whale watching tour if you want to get out on the water. For food, try Boston's specialties like fresh fish, clam chowder, shellfish, and local craft beers.
