Paris
You'll arrive in Paris and check into your hotel in the 8th Arrondissement. Take time to get oriented in this city with its grand boulevards, theaters, and Belle Époque department stores lining the streets.

Paris
Start with a pain au chocolat and café au lait, then you have choices for how to spend your day. Join a guided tour if that appeals, or pick your own path through Paris. Museums, designer shops, vintage flea markets, or a picnic in one of the parks all work depending on what you're after.

This morning you'll explore Paris at your own pace before heading to the ship. Once onboard the Scenic Gem, the crew welcomes you and shows you around your floating home for the next 10 days.

Les Andelys
The ship cruises to Les Andelys, a medieval riverside town on one of the Seine's prettier bends. You can walk along the river past limestone cliffs, wander through the charming center with its Norman-era houses, or join a guided hike or town exploration if you prefer.

Today splits into two paths: visit the Somme Battlefields to see war memorials and cemeteries including the Australian National Memorial and Thiepval Memorial, or explore Normandy's food scene with cheese tastings, cider, and Calvados. A local pastry chef brings fine desserts aboard later.

In Vernon, you can tour Monet's House and Garden by guided coach with time to wander the water lilies and Japanese bridge, or cycle from Vernon to Giverny on your own. Later, head to La Roche Guyon for a classical concert inside a 16th century château built into chalk cliffs that once served as Rommel's WWII headquarters.

Wake in Conflans-Saint-Honoré where two rivers meet. Options include Auvers-sur-Oise where Van Gogh painted his last works, the Château de Chantilly with its collections and grounds, or a museum about inland waterway transport. This afternoon relax on board as the ship sails back toward Paris.

Spend the afternoon however you like, whether that's café people-watching, climbing the tower, exploring Montmartre, or staying on the ship.
