Itinerary
- Day 1
Melbourne to Echuca
You'll arrive in Melbourne and catch a train from Southern Cross station heading north to Echuca in Victoria. From there, you board the PS Emmylou, which becomes your floating home for the next four nights. This ship is a faithful replica of a vintage paddle steamer and still runs on its original 1906 steam engine. The boat departs at 4pm heading to Layfield Lane, where you can settle in and take in the river views. Later that evening, there's a gourmet Australian barbecue setup under the stars with live music, so you'll have a nice introduction to the crew and other passengers while the sun sets over the water.

Breakfast comes on deck as the PS Emmylou cruises toward Perricoota Station. Your skipper leads a guided tour of the historic farm, homestead, and gardens before you return to the paddle steamer for dinner. Later in the evening, there's a documentary screening about the Murray River's history and legendary paddle steamers, followed by time to watch the star-filled sky from the deck.

After breakfast on board, you'll explore the charming rural town of Echuca. Morning tea comes aboard the 110-year-old PS Canberra. Back on the PS Emmylou, you cruise upstream through the afternoon and evening, listening to native bird calls and watching for kangaroos as stars start appearing. Dinner at Deep Creek Marina features local flavors and produce.

You'll spend the day relaxing on deck as the PS Emmylou travels back upriver toward Echuca. Take in the views, chat with fellow travelers, read, or grab barista-made coffee in the cosy nooks throughout the vessel. Tonight brings the Captain's farewell dinner on board before docking in Echuca.
