We booked what I thought was a 14 day tour of England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland through Costco on a CostSaver tour, thinking it was run by Trafalgar Tours. Turns out it was only a low-budget affiliate and handled by a third party TourRadar, which I found confusing. After arriving in London England we found out that our tour guide wouldn't be there until the 3rd day. Why did we pay for 2 extra days adrift in a distant suburb of London with no convenient access to any tourist spots?

I cannot recommend Costsaver to any traveler that wants a consistently comfortable hotel or is incapable of handling their own luggage. We read this provision at booking but never dreamed we would have to drag our heavy bags up & down many flights of stairs without lifts. In one instance, down three & back up 4 long flights. No lifts were working! Since the majority of people on the tour were seniors, it was impossible if not for the help of a couple of younger ladies & the tour guide. Some rooms were tiny with no room to maneuver unless one person was on the bed. No air in several of the hotels either. After adding the costs of all the extra excursions, we could have paid for a better, more inclusive tour that helped with luggage without going thru a 3Rd party. We should have paid more attention to the “see, view & visit” parts described in the tour brochure….. they’re basically a matter of distance. See means you look at something thru the Coach window. View means you get a little closer. Visit means you’ll probably walk by & may pay to go inside if you have time (an optional excursion fee). However, despite all the negatives, we have to applaud the efforts of professionalism, knowledge & handling of several situations of our tour guide, Darren Thompson! He was amazing! Darren went beyond what was expected by actually carrying a lot of heavy luggage to the bus (in the 4 floors of stairs stay). There’s no way most of us could have handled it. He shared his great knowledge of history of the locations & gave excellent recommendations of things to do. He was one of the best tour directors we’ve encountered in lots of travel. We had a great coach driver named Sid too. Also one of the best! Finally, the fact that the group we were traveling with on this tour was so nice, compatible & easy going, made the journey a good one.! It could have been a lot worse without these wonderful traveling companions, Sid & Darren.

The overall trip was fine. The places we went met our expectations, but we also found little glitches along the way that made it less than stellar. We had several hotel rooms that definitely did not meet our expectations; one hotel didn’t have a working elevator and it became hard for our older travelers to portage our luggage.

I had a fantastic time on this trip, thanks to the careful planning and organization of our tour director, Amber, and bus driver, Steph. The itinerary was thoughtfully prepared, and we received daily schedules in advance, which I appreciated as a structure-lover. Despite some members facing mobility challenges, Amber made sure to adjust the pace and provide extra support when needed. However, I feel that some aspects of the trip could be improved, such as omitting certain activities and allocating more time for others. We visited some breathtaking locations, including Chester, York, Tralee, and Bath, and even attended the Royal Tattoo in Edinburgh, which was an incredible experience. While some hotels fell short of expectations, the excellent service and included dinners at other hotels made up for it. I would suggest incorporating icebreaker activities and name tags at the beginning of the trip to foster a sense of community among the group. Overall, I would definitely consider another bus trip with CostSaver in the future.

First of all, our trip director (Amber) and our driver (Steph) were great. Overall, the trip was good. Some stops didn't allow enough time to see everything, but that's typical for these types of trips. The food was good, except at the Black Swan Inn. However, some of Costsaver's practices are very poor. We booked this trip well in advance with an early bird discount. Unfortunately, it was canceled a couple of weeks before departure. Costsaver offered us a shorter trip on similar dates but refused to honor our original early bird pricing. Instead, they charged us a higher "last minute booking" rate. Despite speaking to multiple representatives, they wouldn't lower the extra $800 charge. Travel agents and other travel companies advised that they would have honored the original agreement and offered perks for the inconvenience since the cancellation was not our fault. This trip was for our honeymoon, so we decided to go ahead anyway. The most frustrating part was that the week after they insisted they couldn’t lower our price, they reduced the trip cost on their site. We were already booked on the new trip and they still refused to adjust our price. We won't use Costsaver again unless they correct this with us. Another thing we found is that you cannot leave reviews until you are on the trip. I imagine others who faced last-minute cancellations and didn’t accept the new trip can’t leave reviews either. I recommend looking at other travel companies.

All in all a good trip. Would have appreciated the temperature on the bus being more regulated to the outdoor temp...it was rather chilly on the bus most days (11-12degrees Celsius)that required me and most others to wear jackets on the bus. When I asked our last bus driver to turn on the heat he ignored me. The same driver who broke a wheel off my luggage. A couple of days we were not advised of the travel time between stops 2.5-3 hours or that we should have snacks/lunch with us. Appreciated our fist driver Tony in navigating everything and Andrew our Tour Guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable on history and great sense of humor.

You need better communication regarding time lines. I was disappointed with the information gives to us. Others on the same trip had better information but booked through a travel agent. 15 day tour is only 12 days. We had to stay an extra day in London for no good reason. We never heard from the tour director untill 10 mims before the bus was leaving. No information was at the hotel, i went around asking peoeif they were on tour with costsaver. I found someone and rushed to getpacked and find the bus. Director said she did not have my contact information. Others said the same thing. Bus driver was great. Director should talk more history and less fairy tales. Everything else was very good for the area we covered.

This trip does not include the Cliffs of Moher. Most of our hotels are located in the city center. First day would be a free since it's only an included accommodation in London so you may visit some place in your free time.

Why is the full amount due in March 2025 instead of 60 days prior in June.

    • CostsaverOperatorWritten December 2024

There is currently a promo applicable for this tour and departure date which is the "The Big Tour Sale" promo which is less 10%. This promo requires full payment 120 days prior to departure. If we are to remove this promo, the full payment will be due back to 60 days prior to departure.
