- MDMargy· June 3rd, 2025Traveling from Kathmandu to Lhasa was an unforgettable experience. The drive through Nepal was long, and the roads were rough, but the breathtaking views made every bump worth it. Once we entered Tibet, the scenery opened up into vast plateaus and majestic mountains that took our breath away. Pradip and his team at Peregrine Treks managed everything perfectly. From permits to accommodations, everything was arranged in advance. The company has a great reputation in Tibet, which made the border process and local coordination smooth and stress-free. We visited incredible places like the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, and the local guides shared so much knowledge and history. Every site felt meaningful and well explained. This was the best trip of my life. The effort it took to get there only made it more rewarding. Thank you, Pradip, for making everything go so smoothly. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique and powerful travel experience.Show moreTrip date: May 2025
- AAnonymous· May 30th, 2025A bit brutal, 650 miles with some 10-11 hour days in the saddle with 9 other travelers but the best way to see Tibet rather than flying over.Show moreTrip date: May 2025
- JVJo· February 16th, 2025Our 8-day Lhasa tour from Kathmandu was an unforgettable journey filled with breathtaking landscapes, rich Tibetan culture, and seamless organization. From the moment we left Kathmandu, everything was well-planned and efficiently arranged, making this trip stress-free and truly enjoyable. The scenic drive from Nepal to Tibet via Kerung was a unique experience, offering stunning views of the Himalayas, high mountain passes, and traditional Tibetan villages. The highlight of the journey was definitely Lhasa, where we explored the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street, immersing ourselves in the deep spiritual essence of Tibet. The monastic debates at Sera Monastery and the grandeur of Drepung Monastery gave us a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives of Tibetan monks. One of the most memorable moments was the visit to Yamdrok Lake, a turquoise gem surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The changing landscapes of Tibet, from dry highlands to lush valleys, were simply breathtaking. The Chinese visa policy is a bit complicated. As U.S. passport holders, our group of five needed a visa, but the four travelers from Germany and Spain didn’t require one, which left us quite confused about the regulations. However, Peregrine Treks efficiently arranged a group visa for us, making the process completely hassle-free. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, ensuring we understood the history, culture, and spiritual significance of every site we visited. The altitude adjustment was well-paced, with enough time to acclimate, making the experience smooth and enjoyable. Overall, this tour was exceptionally well-organized, offering a perfect balance of adventure, cultural exploration, and natural beauty. I highly recommend this Lhasa tour from Kathmandu to anyone looking for an authentic and immersive Tibetan experience!Show moreTrip date: February 2025
- POPhyllis· January 20th, 2025The itinerary begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Kerung, crossing the Nepal-Tibet border and taking in the stunning Nepali landscapes. The journey continues with high-altitude drives across the Tibetan Plateau, stopping at Pikucho Lake, and views of majestic peaks, including Mt. Kailash. In Lhasa, participants will explore significant sites like the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and various monasteries, experiencing the rich culture and spiritual life of Tibet. Finally, the tour wraps up with a return drive from Shegar to Kathmandu, creating a memorable adventure through diverse and breathtaking scenery.Show moreTrip date: December 2024
- JHJane· January 9th, 2025My husband and I recently completed the Lhasa Tour from Kathmandu, and overall, it was an incredible experience. The tour was well-organized, and everything went smoothly from the moment we were picked up in Kathmandu. The arrangements, including transportation and guides, were top-notch, ensuring we could fully enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and cultural experiences. The accommodations were basic but manageable, which is typical for the region. One thing to note, however, is that restroom facilities along the way were in very poor condition—this is beyond the control of the Peregrine. I highly recommend carrying hand sanitizer and being prepared to use open toilets when necessary. This small inconvenience was easily outweighed by the stunning scenery and unique cultural experiences. Despite these challenges, the tour provided a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore Lhasa’s spiritual and historical landmarks. The visits to Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple were unforgettable highlights. If you’re prepared for a bit of adventure and some rustic conditions, this tour is an amazing way to experience the heart of Tibet. Asked on January 21st, 2025Do I need to apply for Chinese visa / Tibet permit in India or this process will be done by your agency in Kathmandu? How many days does it take for the visa and permit once I am in Kathmandu?
- Peregrine Treks and Expedition Pvt LtdOperator•Written January 2025
For Indian citizens, the Chinese Group Visa and Tibet Travel Permit will be processed directly through our agency in Kathmandu. It takes three official days to complete the process. To ensure a smooth application, I recommend you arrive in Kathmandu on 9th April 2025, before 9 AM. This will allow us to start your visa application process on the same day. You will receive your visa on 11th April, and your Tibet trip will commence on 12th April 2025.

Traveler•Written January 2025What happens if the visa and permits are rejected after I arrive in Kathmandu? I read somewhere that tourists with Indian passports aren't allowed to travel on this trip, hence I was concerned.
- Peregrine Treks and Expedition Pvt LtdOperator•Written January 2025
While travel to Mount Kailash is restricted for Indian passport holders, other Tibet tours, including our 8 Days Lhasa Tour, are open to Indian citizens. In the rare event your visa is rejected, we will refund the full tour cost except for the visa fee (USD 125). If the Chinese immigration finds restricted materials upon inspection, you may be denied entry at the border.

The road to Shigatse, Everest Base Camp, and the Nepal-Tibet border is currently closed and is expected to reopen in late January. We have many groups scheduled for February. Please note that Tibet will be closed in March. However, you can confidently book your trip for April, as the roads will definitely be open by then.
