Itinerary
- Day 1
Athens
You'll arrive in Athens and head to your hotel to get settled. After dropping your bags, the afternoon is yours to relax or explore nearby areas. Stop by reception to check the boards for information about when your guided tour kicks off.
- Day 2
Athens
Start your guided tour of Athens, walking through the Presidential Mansion, Panathenaic Stadium, and National Library before checking out the city center squares. You'll also see neighborhoods built up after the 2004 Olympics. The day includes a visit to the Acropolis, and then in the evening you'll head to Plaka to wander the tavernas and experience Greek folklore firsthand.

Peloponnese to Patras
You're heading through the Peloponnese starting with a stop at the Corinth Canal to see its engineering. From there, the route takes you through mountain terrain to Tripoli's Aeros Square. Later you'll reach the Archaeological Site of Olympia where a local guide shows you the Temple of Zeus, Stadium, Gymnasium, and Arena. The day ends in Patras, where you can explore its medieval fortress and largest cathedral.

Patras to Brindisi
Cross the Rio-Antirrio Bridge connecting the Peloponnese to mainland Greece. Travel through Central Greece and Epirus to reach Igoumenitsa. You'll board a modern ferry at 2:00 p.m., sailing across the Ionian Sea and arriving in Brindisi, Italy around 9:00 p.m.

Alberobello and Matera to Naples
Start in Alberobello to see its distinctive conical trulli houses, a UNESCO site. Then move to Matera, an ancient settlement carved into rock (also UNESCO-listed). You'll have lunch included in Matera, then travel through mountain landscapes to Naples where you have free time to check out the city.

Capri, Sorrento, and Salerno
After breakfast, take a ferry from Naples to Capri island. Use the funicular to reach Capri town and walk around taking in the views. Following lunch, catch a ferry to Sorrento, a cliff-top town where you can spend some time exploring. Later you'll head to Salerno on the Gulf of Salerno for the night.

Apennines to Bari
Travel toward the Adriatic Sea through the Apennine Mountains. You'll visit the 11th-century San Giovanni in Venere Abbey, built on an ancient Roman temple site. Stop in Termoli, a coastal city with a 13th-century castle and Romanesque cathedral, where you can have lunch and walk around. Later continue to Bari to explore its old town's narrow streets and historic churches.

Metsovo to Meteora to Kalabaka
Journey through tall Epirus mountains to Metsovo, a charming Balkan village featuring stone houses, red tile roofs, and carved wooden balconies reflecting Slavic and Turkish influences. Stop in Kastraki village for views of Meteora Valley. Then explore the Meteora UNESCO site with its towering rock formations topped by monasteries. You'll visit one of the monasteries before ending the day in Kalabaka.
