Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Bangkok

    You'll arrive in Bangkok and get settled into your hotel. Later this evening, join the group for an authentic Thai dinner with a range of dishes, then hop in a tuk-tuk to cruise through the city streets. You'll pass by the Grand Palace, Wat Pho temple, and Sanam Luang Park as you get your first look at Bangkok's famous landmarks.

  2. Day 2

    Bangkok

    Start at Wat Pho early to see the 46-metre golden Reclining Buddha and listen to morning chants from the monks. Next, head to the Grand Palace and visit Wat Phra Kaew temple where the Emerald Buddha is kept. After lunch, you can either take an optional long-tail boat through Thonburi's klongs to see traditional wooden townhouses and Wat Arun, or explore Bangkok on your own. The group meets for Thai dinner this evening.

    Bangkok to Kanchanaburi

    You'll travel to Kanchanaburi to see the Bridge over the River Kwai. Stop by the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre to learn about the history of the Burma Railway. After that, head to Erawan National Park for a short, easy walk through the lush landscape with mist hanging over the Tenasserim Hills. If you want, there's a chance to swim in the turquoise pools at Erawan Falls.

  4. Day 4

    Kanchanaburi to Ayutthaya

    Start with photos and exploration at the Bridge over the River Kwai, then travel on to the UNESCO ruins of Ayutthaya. You'll see impressive structures including a Buddha head embedded in a tree trunk. Later, take a Thai cooking class with local chefs who'll teach you authentic recipes using ingredients you can find at home. After eating what you've cooked, board a traditional teak rice barge for a journey along rural waterways leading into Ayutthaya city.

    Head to Phitsanulok and visit the 14th century Wat Yai temple with its bronze Buddha statue and decorative features. Continue on to Sukhothai, a UNESCO site that was an important city in the 13th and 14th centuries. Explore the Buddhist images, wall paintings, and carved elephants supporting a tall stupa. You'll meet a local history expert who can tell you about the area's heritage and traditions. Lunch includes authentic Sukhothai noodles.

    Travel to Lampang and visit Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang, which shows off Lanna-Buddhist architecture with an ancient fortress wall and central chedi. Check out the Dhanabaadee Ceramic Museum to see how ceramics connect to life in Lampang, known as Thailand's ceramic city. From there, head to Chiang Mai and drive up to Doi Suthep temple overlooking the city. Stop at Wat Palat, a quiet jungle temple, then spend time at Doi Suthep watching the sunset. There's an optional evening visit to Chiang Mai night bazaar if you want to shop and eat.

    Chiang Mai

    You'll wake early to participate in Alms Giving to Monks, a tradition that's been going on for centuries. After some relaxation time, travel to a village in Hang Dong district to visit a traditional Lanna family's house. Take a guided walk through to learn how northern Thai people live traditionally. Explore their homegrown herbal garden and learn about different herbs and spices. Then you'll make a Thai Herbal Compress Ball, which is traditionally used for massages.

On the way back, stop at the Just You Cares Yimsoo Farm Training Centre, a non-profit that helps the local community by employing people living with disabilities. Tour the center to experience Lanna culture and traditions firsthand.

    Spend the morning in Chiang Mai, then head to the airport for a flight to Krabi. When you arrive, transfer to your hotel in Ao Nang, Krabi, which will be your base for the next three nights.

    Krabi

You could grab lunch with other travelers at one of the seafood restaurants nearby. This evening, the group gathers for a farewell drink before dinner together.
