Itinerary
- Day 1
Siem Reap to Preah Vihear
Your motorbike journey kicks off in Siem Reap heading north on dirt roads and backroads toward the Thai border. You'll ride through small villages and farmland while chatting with locals you meet along the way. The terrain gets challenging with steep climbs and muddy sections leading to Preah Vihear, an ancient temple sitting on a mountaintop with views across Cambodia and into Thailand. After checking out this UNESCO site, you'll settle into a nearby guesthouse and have a traditional Khmer dinner to end the day.

- Day 2
Preah Vihear to Stung Treng
From there you head east on dirt tracks and forest trails toward Stung Treng following the Mekong River. Dense forests and remote countryside make up most of the ride, and you'll get glimpses of rural Cambodia along the way. The route takes you through the Mekong's wetlands, which support a lot of wildlife. You'll stop at small fishing villages to learn how locals live and work, then roll into Stung Treng by afternoon to browse the markets and feel out the riverside vibe before grabbing a guesthouse for the night.

- Day 3
Stung Treng to Kratie
Next you ride south along the Mekong toward Kratie on a more laid-back route mixing riverside trails and backroads. The river runs alongside you the whole time with nice views of the countryside. You'll pull over at the Irrawaddy dolphin sanctuary to see rare freshwater dolphins in their natural environment. Later there's time to wander Kratie's French colonial buildings and local markets. By evening you're back by the river soaking in how peaceful it all is before heading to your guesthouse.

Kratie to Kampong Cham
From Kratie you head south to Kampong Cham, a town with colonial architecture and rubber plantations dotting the area. The route combines paved roads and dirt trails cutting through central Cambodia. Along the way you'll stop at local temples and pagodas to see how spiritual life works here, and you'll notice farmers in the fields and kids playing by the road. In town there's a riverside promenade to walk, the iconic bamboo bridge that gets rebuilt each year by the community, and local restaurants where you can eat and talk with friendly people you meet.

- Day 5
Kampong Cham to Siem Reap
On the last day you take a different route back to Siem Reap through more of Cambodia's varied landscapes. Backroads and dirt trails pass through small villages and rural areas. As you ride you'll think back on everything from Preah Vihear's ancient temples to the quiet Mekong. You'll roll into Siem Reap in the late afternoon, finishing off your off-road motorbike tour with a real sense of having accomplished something and plenty of memories to take home.
