Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
You'll get picked up at Tribhuvan International Airport and taken to your hotel. After that, the rest of the day is yours to recover from travel or walk around Thamel's shops and restaurants if you're feeling up for it.

- Day 2
Kathmandu UNESCO Heritage Sites
Start with Swayambhunath, then head to Pashupatinath Temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square, all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Later in the afternoon, you'll meet your trekking guide who'll go over the plan and make sure you're ready for the trek ahead.

Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj in the southwest near the Indian border, taking in views of the Himalayan foothills along the way. Once you land, get transferred to your hotel and spend the evening getting ready for tomorrow's flight to Simikot.
- Day 4
Nepalgunj to Simikot
Catch an early morning flight to Simikot, which is where your trek starts. After you arrive, check out the local market and spend time adjusting to the altitude. You'll notice Tibetan influences in the architecture and local customs throughout the town.

Simikot to Dharapuri
Your trek begins with a descent from Simikot down to Dharapuri. The route goes down to the Karnali River, then climbs gradually through terraced fields and villages. It's a nice introduction to Humla with lush greenery and stone houses all around you.

Dharapuri to Kermi
Follow the Karnali River toward Kermi, a village with hot springs. The trail is mostly flat with gentle climbs through pine forests and barley fields. Kermi is your first Buddhist village on this trek, and you can visit monasteries like Laikyo Gompa and Lhundrup Choeling Gompa.

Kermi to Yalbang
Trek along the Karnali River with hills and forests around you. The path gradually goes up to Yalbang, a village with a large Buddhist monastery called Namkha Khyung Dzong Monastery. You'll have a chance to talk with the monks about their daily lives and practices.

- Day 8
Yalbang to Muchu / Tumkot
From Yalbang, follow the Karnali River up through a gorge. As altitude increases, you'll see fewer trees and more rocky terrain. Muchu gives you a sense of traditional Tibetan life, or if you push on to Tumkot, you can visit Dhungkar Choezom Monastery, which follows the Sakya lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

Tumkot to Yari / Thado Dunga
Today brings a steady climb as you move higher. The trail goes through Pani Palwang where you can stop for lunch, then continues to Yari or Thado Dunga. The land becomes more open with just a few juniper trees, and you'll camp near the village for the night.

Thado Dunga to Hilsa
This is one of the toughest days as you cross Nara La Pass, the highest point so far. The steep climb up rewards you with views of the Tibetan plateau to the north and Limi Valley to the south. After crossing, the descent down to Hilsa, a small border town near Tibet, is sharp.

Hilsa to Manepeme
Leave Hilsa by crossing a large iron bridge over the Karnali River, then trek toward Manepeme. The path climbs gradually with some steep parts in between, showing off the barren landscape. Manepeme is a remote campsite with minimal facilities, really out in the wilderness.

Manepeme to Til
This trek is long and hard, taking you through steep rock faces and high cliffs. Stop by Ya Yip Phuk meditation cave, an important Buddhist site. As you get closer to Til, things turn greener with terraced fields and birch trees around the village.

Til to Halji
The walk from Til to Halji is shorter, so you'll have time to explore the ancient village itself. Halji has the 1,000-year-old Rinchenling Gompa, one of Nepal's oldest monasteries. This village is the cultural center of Limi Valley and a great place to connect with local Tibetan Buddhist traditions.

Halji to Jang
Trek to Jang, another traditional Tibetan settlement. The route has views of snow-capped peaks and the Limi River flowing below. Jang has an old monastery and provides a calm spot to rest and think about the journey so far.

Landmarks Jang Monastery - Day 15
Jang to Talung
Head from Jang to Talung with a gradual climb into higher terrain. The landscape becomes rougher with less plant life as you go. Talung is a remote camp offering views of surrounding mountains and a quiet wilderness feeling.

Talung to Shinjungma (Nyalu La Pass)
This is one of the trek's hardest but most fulfilling days. You'll cross Nyalu La Pass at 4,995 meters, the highest point of the entire trek. The steep climb takes careful pace work due to altitude, and from the top you get panoramic Himalayan views including Mount Kailash and the Tibetan plateau. The descent to Shinjungma campsite is equally steep, covering about 14 kilometers in 7-8 hours.

Shinjungma to Kermi
After yesterday's challenging pass, today is a gentler descent through changing landscapes from high alpine terrain to greener valleys. Kermi has hot springs where you can relax tired muscles after the strenuous climb. The trek covers around 14 kilometers and takes 5-6 hours.

Kermi to Simikot
Your final trekking day brings a steady climb back to Simikot where this all started. The trail mixes terraced fields with pine forests. As you approach Simikot, reflect on what you've seen and take in the last views of Humla. You'll cover approximately 18 kilometers in 6-7 hours.

Simikot to Kathmandu
Fly from Simikot to Nepalgunj in the morning, then catch a connecting flight to Kathmandu. The flights give you aerial views of the mountains and valleys you just walked through. Once you're back in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel and relax your last evening.

Departure from Kathmandu
After breakfast, you'll head to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight. If time allows, fit in some last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Kathmandu before you go.
