Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Ho Chi Minh City

    You'll arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and get transferred to your hotel, then head down to Saigon Port to board the Emerald Harmony. The ship sails down the Saigon River toward Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta. Lunch happens on board, and later that evening you'll join the captain's welcome dinner with a port talk to kick things off.

  2. Day 2

    Mekong Delta

    Starting early, you'll sail through the Cho Gao canal where you can watch the busy commercial boat traffic moving through this vital waterway. The morning includes a visit to the Tan My Floating community, then it's on to local plantations where you'll see mushroom, fruit, and honey farms with chances to sample what they grow. After returning to the ship, you'll sail to Sa Đéc. Later, there's a visit to Thoi Binh hamlet to see farming and fishing communities that don't get many tourists.

    Sa Đéc to My An Hung Island

    You'll take a sampan ride into Sa Đéc for a walking tour that includes the home of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, which inspired Marguerite Duras' novel L'Amant, plus the central market to look around. From there, a sampan brings you back to the ship. Next, you'll sail to My An Hung Island, a place known for red-hot chilli and pepper production. The EmeraldPLUS experience here includes local folk singing, and you'll also visit the Monkey Bridge.

    Cu Lao Gieng (Mango Island)

    Travel by local motorcycle rickshaw through Cu Lao Gieng (Mango Island) to see families involved in mango farming, boat building, and incense stick production. The afternoon is flexible, so you can either relax on the ship or take an optional trip to the Tam Nong Ramsar Bird Sanctuary. Later that evening, a traditional Lion Dance performance happens on board as part of the EmeraldPLUS experience.

    Take a sampan to Evergreen Island and walk through a local village to see how the farming community lives their daily life. After returning to Tan Chau, you'll visit a local Cao Dai Temple to learn about this unique syncretic religion. A cyclo (Xe Loi) ride brings you back to the sampan, then you return to the ship, which sails toward the Vietnam-Cambodia border.

    You'll arrive in Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital known as the 'Pearl of Asia'. The morning takes you to the Killing Fields at Choeung Ek to understand Cambodia's history and the Khmer Rouge period, then to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), a former school that became a prison and torture center. Your afternoon is yours to explore the Central Market or relax on the ship. This evening, an EmeraldPLUS experience includes a remork (tuk-tuk) tour through Phnom Penh's lit-up streets.

  7. Day 7

    Oudong to Prek K'Dam

    Head north to Oudong, Cambodia's former royal capital, and visit Oudong Monastery and Temples with burial sites of Khmer kings and century-old religious artifacts. As part of the EmeraldPLUS experience, you'll receive a traditional Buddhist blessing from resident monks. In the afternoon, you'll check out the Royal Palace with its French-inspired gardens and the Silver Pagoda. Back on the ship, there's a cultural performance by the Cambodian Student and Children's Organisation before sailing to Prek K'Dam, passing illuminated Phnom Penh.

    Wonderful ship and staff. Excellent ground accommodations in Siam Reap and Hi Chi Min City. Highly recommend the additional time in Halong Bay. The tour provided wonderful insights into Vietnam and Cambodia. The tour guides were very helpful but the quality of the 4 guides were not consistent.

    It would have nice if our first tour guide had our information/documents regarding our trip!! Like the hotels etc. We had to ask several times. Since we were last minutes booking. We also asked for twin beds and took a few times before it was corrected. The Hotel in Seim Reap was the best hotel on this trip. Overall it was a great experience. Great tour guides.

    • For any tour departing before February 20th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 20th, 2026, a minimum payment of $1,000 is required to confirm your booking with Emerald Cruises. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 95 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
