Darwin
You'll arrive in Darwin and settle into your hotel with views over the harbour. After getting organized, there's a welcome dinner at your hotel where you can meet other travelers and start learning about what's ahead in the Top End.

Landmarks Darwin Harbour - Day 2
Darwin
Today you pick what calls to you. There's crocodile spotting on the Adelaide River if you want to see crocs in their natural setting, or Litchfield National Park with its waterfalls and forest walks. If you prefer learning about history, the WWII tour covers Darwin's wartime role, or grab a hop-on-hop-off city pass to move around at your own pace.

Darwin to Kakadu National Park
You'll head to Kakadu National Park, a World Heritage site with layers of history. Check out ancient rock art at Nourlangie Rock and the Bowali Visitors Centre, then take a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong where you'll see crocodiles, water buffalo, and birds. Tonight you're staying inside the park with pool and restaurant access.

Kakadu National Park to Katherine
If you booked it ahead, take an optional aerial view of Jim Jim and Twin Falls by fixed-wing aircraft. Then travel to Katherine and explore Nitmiluk National Park with its Katherine Gorge and high sandstone cliffs. Stay at a lodge with indigenous culture connections, and there's an optional evening cruise through the gorge to see the red ochre walls and hear Jawoyn stories.

Katherine to Kununurra
You'll head west into Western Australia and cruise on Lake Argyle, one of the Southern Hemisphere's largest man-made lakes. From there, travel to Kununurra, a town founded in the 1960s surrounded by lakes and waterfalls. You'll stay at a resort here for the next two nights, giving you time to settle in.

Kununurra
Spend time in Kununurra and the East Kimberley exploring ancient landscapes. If you arranged it beforehand, take a flight over the Bungle Bungles to see the orange and black striped rock formations. Work with a local Indigenous guide to learn about Miriuwung culture and visit Mirima National Parks, which protect culturally significant sites.

Kununurra to El Questro
Start with morning tea and a tour through Hoochery Distillery to see how Australian rum and spirits are made from local sugarcane. Then drive the iconic Gibb River Road to El Questro Wilderness Park, a massive 700,000-acre property with thermal springs, waterfalls, and gorges. Tonight you'll sleep in deluxe safari-style tented cabins at Emma Gorge, a waterfall and swimming spot.

In the evening, head to the El Questro Station Airstrip for sunset drinks and views of the Cockburn Ranges.

El Questro to Halls Creek
Travel along the Great Northern Highway toward Halls Creek, passing the striking Carr Boyd Range with its natural swimming holes and waterfalls. Halls Creek earned the nickname 'heart of gold' after Australia's first gold discovery happened here in 1885. Walk through Yarliyil, a local Indigenous gallery with work from over 100 artists, then settle in for the night.

Halls Creek to Fitzroy Crossing
You'll visit China Wall, a natural white stone formation that looks like its famous namesake, checking out the quartz vein running through the limestone. Then continue to Fitzroy Crossing, a small town on the Fitzroy River where five Indigenous language groups live. The area has the prehistoric Mimbi Caves, and you'll stay at a lodge where wallabies often show up in early morning hours.

Fitzroy Crossing to Broome
You're heading to Broome, a multicultural tropical coastal city with Indonesian, Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese, and European influences mixed with First Nations culture. Take a cruise on the Ballena catamaran looking for whales and enjoying drinks available for purchase. You'll stay two nights at a resort in the bush near Cable Beach.

Broome
Pick from several options to fill your day in Broome. Tour a working pearl farm to see how Australian South Sea Pearls are produced, ride a Harley Davidson trike through town learning its history, experience Indigenous stories and bush tucker, or take a one-hour camel ride along Cable Beach's white sand. There's also an optional seaplane flight to the Horizontal Falls if you book it in advance.
