Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Montenegro
You'll arrive at either Podgorica or Tivat airport to start your Montenegro tour. If you've booked the guided option, someone will meet you and drive you to your hotel in Petrovac or Bar. Those with rental cars will pick up their vehicles and head to the same areas. You can also arrange to get there by train or bring your own car if that works better for your schedule.

- Overland arrival by train: Munich to Zagreb (approximately 9 hours overnight), then Zagreb to Belgrade (approximately 6.5 hours overnight), then Belgrade to Podgorica (approximately 10 hours)

Bar to Kolasin
From Bar, you'll travel to Kolasin by train (guided tour) or rental car (self-drive), passing through dramatic mountain terrain with rivers and historic bridges along the way. Once there, an off-road vehicle takes you to a small mountain farm where lunch includes local cheese, homemade bread, and fresh juice. You'll head back to Kolasin by evening.

Biogradska Gora National Park
This day focuses on Biogradska Gora National Park, where you'll walk around Lake Biogradsko Jezero, the largest of six glacial lakes in the area. If you want to do more hiking, there are trails through forests with endemic species, and you might spot imperial eagles or wolves. You'll return to Kolasin in the afternoon.

Kolasin to Zabljak
You'll drive from Kolasin to Zabljak through Tara Gorge, Europe's longest and deepest gorge. Stop at Tara Bridge for photos and lunch by the river. After arriving in Zabljak, take a guided walk around Black Lake, one of 18 glacial lakes in Durmitor National Park. After about 45 minutes, head back to your hotel.

Durmitor National Park
Today is free to explore Durmitor on your own schedule. The park has nearly 50 peaks above 2,000 meters, around 20 glacial lakes, and hundreds of springs. Self-drive visitors explore independently; guided tour participants can have their guide accompany them. Walk the trails at your pace, swim in Black Lake if weather allows, then return to your Zabljak hotel.

Cetinje - Njegushi
You'll leave the mountains and head back toward the coast through winding roads. There's an optional early stop at Ostrog Monastery, carved into cliff faces. Then visit Cetinje, the presidential residence, where you can see royal buildings and museums in former palaces. Stop in Njegushi to try local ham and cheese before continuing to Bar for the night.

Free Day at Bar
No set activities today, so you can relax and swim. Guided tour guests can take the train to Virpazar on Lake Shkodra to see the old town and Besac fortress, then optionally canoe the lake. Self-drive visitors might explore the Bay of Kotor via the Austro-Hungarian mountain route with a ferry crossing, visit Herceg Novi, or hike in the Orjen Mountains.

Bay of Kotor Tour
You'll explore the northern Bay of Kotor starting in Kotor, walking through the old town with Venetian walls and checking out St. Triphun's Cathedral. From there, head to Perast and take a boat to the island of Gospa. Next is Risan, known for 2nd-century Roman mosaics. On the way back to Bar, stop in Budva, an ancient town with 2,500 years of history.

Ulcinj
Travel south-east to Ulcinj on the Albanian border. Guided tour participants visit the Archaeological Museum and explore the old town, stopping at a market bar to try Montenegrin wines like Vranac red wine. Self-drive guests explore the old bazaar and market on their own, visit the 13 km sandy beach, and see the Bojana River mouth before heading back to Bar.
