8 Days in Montenegro, incl. Cetinje and Kotor
Luxury awaits at Hotel Gradska in historic Cetinje while visiting 13 Montenegro destinations. UNESCO-listed Kotor, three national parks, Ostrog Monastery, Lipa Cave, and Skadar Lake showcase Montenegro's diversity. Traditional cuisine in Njegusi village adds local flavor.
- Day 1
Cetinje
Begin your Montenegro adventure in Cetinje, the former royal capital. Spend the afternoon walking through the historic center with its impressive embassy buildings. A recent visitor noted: "Coming back to my suite in Cetinje each afternoon was a real pleasure - it's the perfect base for exploring Montenegro's highlights."
- Day 2
Lovcen National Park & Njegusi
Visit Lovcen National Park first thing in the morning. It's just 20 minutes from Cetinje. Climb 461 steps to Njegos Mausoleum at Jezerski Peak (1,657m) before 10 AM to beat the crowds. Drive to Njegusi village for lunch and stop at the "Doors of Heaven" viewpoint. Sample the local prosciutto and cheese. Take motion sickness pills if you get queasy on mountain roads.
- Day 3
Boka Bay
Drive the scenic route to Boka Bay and stop at Brajici viewpoint. Visit Budva's Old Town in the morning before heading to Kotor with its UNESCO-listed walls. Walk the walls before midday to avoid intense heat. Take a short boat ride from Perast to Our Lady of the Rocks island for €5. Plan your bay photos for early morning or late afternoon when the water is calmest.
- Day 4
Lipa Cave & Local Wine Tasting
Start at Lipa Cave when it's cooler in the morning. Bring a light jacket since the cave stays between 8-12°C. Tours last about an hour. Visit the Vukmirovic family vineyard in the afternoon for wine and honey tasting. One visitor shared: "The traditional wine tasting in the old Montenegrin house was a highlight - make sure to try their homemade honey liqueur."
- Day 5
Ostrog Monastery & Rijeka Crnojevica
Get an early start to Ostrog Monastery. Pack modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Wear good walking shoes since the monastery sits in a cliff face. Later, visit River Crnojevica where you can take a boat ride near Lake Skadar. Get your best photos from the old road viewpoint above the river.
- Day 6
Biogradska Gora National Park
Travel through Moraca Canyon to reach Biogradska Gora, one of Europe's remaining rainforests. Stop at Moraca Monastery on your way. Take the trail around Biogradsko Lake for a 2-3 hour walk. You can swim in the lake during summer. Look for the park's ancient trees, some over 500 years old and reaching 60m high.

- Day 1
Skadar Lake National Park
- Day 2
Lake Skadar Kayaking - Podgorica
Start at 8 AM for kayaking on Lake Skadar. One traveler suggests: "Pack some snacks and sun protection – you'll want to spend extra time exploring the lily pad channels and watching for pelicans." The kayaks are stable and good for beginners. If you prefer not to paddle, take a boat tour instead. In the afternoon, transfer to Podgorica (45 minutes away).
- Day 3
Biogradska Gora National Park
Take the morning train from Podgorica to Kolašin (3 hours). Sit on the right side for the best views. Spend the day hiking the ridge above Biogradska Gora for stunning mountain views. - Day 4
Tara Canyon
- Day 5
Durmitor National Park
Pick between two hikes: the challenging Crvena Greda summit (5-6 hours, 700m elevation gain) or an easier Black Lake circuit (2-3 hours). What people love about 10-day Montenegro tours
- 8 Days Montenegro Sailing Tour
We booked the 7 nights/8 day Pearl of the Adriatic cruise for July 2019, This is a wonderful way to see and explore the Montenegro coast. The food however was a little poor in content and didn't offer much choice. However the locations visited where dinner or lunch was taken most days was certainly first class This is a holiday which offers relaxation along with the chance to view Montenegro's coastal towns. Recommended.
- Best of Montenegro - Self-Guided Multiactivity Adventure inc. hiking, cycling, rafting, kayaking
Our family holiday with 3e Travel in Montenegro was an unforgettable experience! The team was exceptional, always going above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Our kids absolutely adored them! From the moment we arrived at our first accommodation to our final evening, everything was seamlessly organized and perfectly suited for all ages. The mix of activities like cycling, hiking, and tailored family adventures were thoughtfully curated and fun for everyone. A special highlight was the boat trip to a hidden beach on Lake Skadar – the kids had a blast swimming, and we enjoyed the delicious fish. We can't recommend 3e Travel enough for an amazing, family-friendly adventure in Montenegro. Thanks for the incredible memories!
