Glasgow to Tobermory
You'll leave Glasgow and head north through some of Scotland's most distinctive scenery. First stop is Loch Lomond where you'll take a walk around the village of Luss, a quiet spot with water views and old-fashioned charm. From there the route cuts through Glencoe valley, which opens up with dramatic mountain views on both sides. After that you'll cross Loch Linnhe by ferry, then take another ferry from Lochaline over to the island of Mull. The journey ends in Tobermory, a colorful harbor town where you'll spend the night. Expect the ferry crossings to add some travel time, so by evening you'll be settling into your accommodation.

Iona and Staffa
This morning you'll head south to Fionnphort and catch a passenger ferry to Iona, the small island known as the birthplace of Celtic Christianity. Once there you can wander through the Abbey and check out the museum with its collection of Celtic crosses and carved headstones from centuries past. The afternoon gives you free time to either explore the quiet sandy beaches or, if you want something more active, take an optional boat trip out to Staffa to see Fingal's Cave. That geological formation is pretty distinctive with its hexagonal basalt columns rising from the water. You'll return to Tobermory by evening for another night.

Tobermory to Glasgow
You'll depart Tobermory and travel south to Craignure for a short ferry ride to Oban, the main town in the area. There you can walk around the Victorian harbor, grab some local seafood for lunch, and get a feel for the town's maritime character. Next the route heads east to Kilmartin Glen, where there's roughly 800 ancient monuments scattered across the landscape including burial chambers, rock carvings, standing stones, and old castles. Your driver-guide will explain what you're looking at and why these sites matter archaeologically, so you'll get context for what might otherwise just look like rocks and fields. After that you'll continue to Inveraray, a town positioned nicely with views out over Loch Fyne. Then it's back to Glasgow by evening to finish your trip.
