Itinerary
- Day 1
La Paz
You'll arrive in La Paz at 3,600 meters elevation, so take it easy while you settle into your hotel. Once you've checked in, wander through the city's streets to get a feel for the place. Colonial buildings mix with indigenous culture here, and the architecture clinging to the canyon sides creates quite a dramatic landscape. It's worth spending some time just walking around to adjust to the altitude.

- Day 2
La Paz to Uyuni
After leaving La Paz around 8:30 am, you'll have a long drive ahead to Uyuni. The group stops for lunch along the way, so you'll have a chance to eat and stretch. Bring a book or something to keep yourself entertained during the journey. Once you arrive in Uyuni, the afternoon is relaxed so you can rest up before the adventure starts.

- Day 3
Salar de Uyuni Expedition
This is where the 4WD adventure begins. Start at the Train Cemetery just outside Uyuni, then head through Colchani to watch how salt gets harvested using traditional methods. The white plains of Salar de Uyuni come next, and you'll see an old abandoned salt hotel. Later, hike around Isla Inca Wasi (Fish Island), a volcanic outcrop filled with fossils and offering views across the desert.

- Day 4
Andean Desert & Reserva de Eduardo Avaroa
You'll drive deeper into the Andean Desert with Chiguana Salt Lake and the active Ollague Volcano in view. The colorful lakes here sometimes have large groups of flamingos feeding in them. Spend time in Siloli Desert checking out the Mountain of Seven Colors and the Stone Tree formation. At Reserva de Eduardo Avaroa, walk around Laguna Colorada and watch for llamas, flamingos, vicunas, and foxes in the area.

- Day 5
Geysers, Green Lake & Return to Uyuni
Get up early to see the geysers at sunrise when they're most active and colorful. If you're interested, there's an optional soak in a local hot spring. From there, drive to Laguna Verde for photographs of the striking green water. The rest of the day takes you through Valle de Rocas (Rock Valley) and past San Cristobal mining town before returning to Uyuni by around 5 pm.

Uyuni to Potosi
A local bus takes you about 4 hours to Potosi, arriving in the early afternoon. This city was incredibly wealthy during colonial times because of silver mining, and you can still see that history in the architecture. Join an orientation walk to see remnants of that era, then the rest of the day and evening are yours to explore at your own pace.

Potosi to Sucre
After a relaxed morning in Potosi, catch a local bus early in the afternoon for the 4-hour trip to Sucre. You'll arrive in this temperate valley city and have time to settle in. Sucre is called the 'White City' because of its whitewashed colonial buildings, and it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend the evening getting oriented to the layout and neighborhoods.

- Day 8
Sucre Exploration
The day starts with an orientation walk around Sucre. Head out to Cal Orcko to see 68 million-year-old dinosaur footprints, the largest collection in the world with over 12,000 prints. Visit the Museo de la Recoleta, a 400-year-old hilltop convent with sculptures, paintings, and city views. Stop by Plaza 25 de Mayo and check out the interior of the Senora de la Merced church.

Chataquila Trek & Sucre
This morning you'll hike the ancient Pre-Incan Chataquila trek, which is relatively easy and mostly downhill. You'll walk through Andean landscapes and valley views the whole way. The afternoon is completely free, so you can relax or try optional activities like mountain biking on surrounding peaks, hang gliding, catching a Bolivian dance show, or visiting the textile museum if any of those interest you.

Sucre to La Paz
The morning is yours to explore Sucre however you like. In the afternoon, you'll catch a flight back to La Paz that takes about 40 minutes. Use the morning to hit any spots you might have missed or just wander around the city one more time before heading to the airport.
