Itinerary
- Day 1
Lisbon
You'll land in Lisbon and meet your levarTravel leader at the hotel. After you get settled and take some time to rest, your leader can point you toward things worth checking out around the city. This evening, everyone gathers for dinner at a local restaurant where you'll try authentic Portuguese food for the first time.

- Day 2
Lisbon
Start your Lisbon exploration in Alfama, walking through narrow streets and steep staircases to find hidden courtyards. You'll see the old cathedral and climb up to a viewpoint that looks out over the Tagus River. From there, move through downtown to see the triumphal arch and Terreiro do Paço, the plaza that once sent Portuguese explorers out to sea. Ride the famous Tram 28 through the old quarters, then finish the day with a glass of ginjinha as the city lights come on.

- Day 3
Lisbon
Head west to Belém to see where the Age of Exploration began. The Jerónimos Monastery shows off incredible carved arches and holds Vasco da Gama's tomb inside. You'll also check out the Monument to the Discoveries and the historic Belém Tower. Grab warm pastéis de nata from the original bakery, then spend the afternoon at the MAAT museum looking at modern art before heading back.

- Day 4
Lisbon to Coimbra
Travel north through central Portugal's countryside to reach Coimbra, a city full of history and character. At the University of Coimbra (a UNESCO site), you'll see the Joanina Library with its gilded woodwork and frescoed ceilings, then walk through the Royal Palace and Chapel of São Miguel. Climb the tower for views across the city, wander the Alta district's winding streets, and see the Romanesque Old Cathedral. Later, you might hear fado music, Coimbra's unique male vocal tradition, echoing through downtown.

Coimbra to Porto
Move north to Porto, where the Ribeira district greets you with colorful houses hanging over the river. You'll cross the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge (designed by one of Eiffel's colleagues) and walk through Praça da Ribeira. From Vila Nova de Gaia, explore the legendary Port wine cellars, then after lunch climb the Clérigos Tower and visit its Baroque church. Check out Lello Bookstore and stroll down Avenida dos Aliados before having dinner by the river.

- Day 6
Porto and Douro Valley
Leave Porto early and board a cruise boat on the Douro River heading into the Douro Valley wine region. As you drift upriver, layered hills with terraced vineyards replace the city. You'll pass by quintas, olive groves, and engineering locks that lift the boat higher. Arrive at Peso da Régua by midday to explore and visit a local wine estate for tasting. Late afternoon, board the scenic Douro Line train back to Porto, following the river as sunlight filters through.
