Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Ushuaia

    You'll arrive in Ushuaia and head to your hotel to settle in. The rest of the afternoon is yours to walk around the city if you'd like, or you can sign up for any optional activities that interest you. This evening, meet your tour leader and the other travelers at a welcome meeting to go over what's ahead.

  2. Day 2

    Ushuaia

    After breakfast, you'll walk down to the tourist pier to start a boat excursion on the Beagle Channel. The tour takes you to Alicia Island first where you'll see South American sea lions, then over to Bird Island for king and imperial shags. You'll also spot fur seals and visit Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse before heading back to shore. Next comes a guided walk on Bridges Island where you'll learn about the Yamana people and see concheros (ancient shelly deposits). After lunch, you'll hike up Mount Martial in time for sunset, then wrap up with dinner by a fire in a mountain dome.

  3. Day 3

    Tierra del Fuego National Park

    You'll transfer to Tierra del Fuego National Park after breakfast for a full day outdoors. Several medium-difficulty trails take you through rivers, mountains, forests, and coastal scenery. Lunch happens in a dining tent at Acigami Lake. After eating, you'll put on rubber boots and life jackets to paddle inflatable canoes down the Lapataia and Ovando rivers, watching where freshwater meets the sea at Lapataia Bay.

    Ushuaia to Punta Arenas

    You're heading out early after breakfast for a long drive to Punta Arenas, Chile. The route crosses the Argentina-Chile border, so you'll go through border procedures. Once you arrive in Punta Arenas, check into your hotel and regroup with the tour group. Dinner is included this evening.

  5. Day 5

    Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales

    After breakfast, you'll walk to the kayaking tour starting point for a medium-difficulty paddle through the Strait of Magellan. This historic waterway connects the Atlantic and Pacific, and you'll get views of Punta Arenas and Tierra del Fuego from the water. If the weather cooperates, watch for dolphins and sea lions. Kayaking wraps up around 1 pm. Then at 3 pm, you'll catch a local bus heading to Puerto Natales. Dinner together happens after you arrive.

  6. Day 6

    Torres del Paine National Park

    Early breakfast then you're driving to Torres del Paine National Park. After about an hour, the trek begins with a wooden bridge crossing over the Ascencio River. The trail climbs through green foothills toward tall mountains, getting steeper as you go. Just over an hour in, you'll reach the viewpoint with clear lake views and the three famous Torres peaks (Monzino, d'Agostini, Central). You'll rest here and have a picnic lunch before heading back down.
