Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Rome

    Your driver picks you up at the airport and takes you to your hotel. Once you're checked in, the rest of the day is yours to spend however you like. You'll have a complimentary hop-on-hop-off bus ticket that works for the entire day, so you can hop around Rome and get a feel for the layout without committing to a specific route.

  2. Day 2

    Rome to Assisi to Siena to Florence

    The coach departs at 7:15 am heading toward Assisi, a medieval town surrounded by old walls. You'll spend time at the Basilica of St. Francis looking at works by Giotto and Cimabue at your own pace. After grabbing lunch on your own, you'll continue to Siena to see the Piazza del Campo, then head to Florence for the evening.

    Florence

    You'll walk through Florence's Renaissance sites including the Duomo exterior, Campanile Tower, Baptistery, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, and Basilica of Santa Croce. Lunch is included at a traditional Tuscan restaurant in Piazza Santa Croce. After that, you can explore on your own or take an optional trip to Pisa if you're interested.

  4. Day 4

    Florence to Bologna to Venice

    Breakfast in Florence, then you head to Bologna. The city center has iconic porticos running from Piazza Malpighi through to Piazza Maggiore, and you'll check out the Palazzo Podestà and Basilica of San Petronio. You'll wander medieval streets to try traditional food stalls and get a sense of Bologna's street food culture. After a light lunch, the journey continues to Venice (Mestre) for the evening.

    After breakfast, a water taxi takes you to St. Mark's Square. You'll see the Doge's Palace exterior and the Bridge of Sighs. Your tour leader joins you for a Venetian spritz or prosecco and cicchetti (Venetian tapas) for a light lunch. The afternoon is free to wander through Venice's canals at your own pace before you head back to your hotel in Mestre.

A guide walks you through one of the world's most important art collections, showing you the Galleries of Tapestries and Geographical Maps, Raphael's Rooms, and the Sistine Chapel. The tour finishes at St. Peter's Square. You have the rest of the day to explore Rome on your own or join an optional tour of Ancient Rome.

    The tour guide AnDre was excellent. He spoke both English and Italian and was always looking out for his group. He had knowledge of the places we visited. The resort style place for 3 nights had a lot of mosquitos due to all the vegetation surrounding the rooms. The food was somewhat mediocre to bad. Wines also not good. The food out on our day trip stops was about the same. I usually don't have 3 meals a day on my tours but based on where we were staying on this tour, there really was no other option to go out to eat on my own. The people on the tour were pleasant. The pace each day was perfect to see each town. I arrived in Bari the day ahead and I greatly enjoyed exploring the city on my own.
